Just when I thought the UN couldn't become more comical!
Al Gore Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize
How rich. Right up there with Jimmah and Arafat! Well...now that I think about it, it sorta fits.

Actually ths just confirms something I've been thinking for a while: for the American-right the UN has becomethe "dog".
The "Dog", from the old "everytime grand-ma farts, we kick the dog" story
every time Jaques Chirac does some pompous idiot thing, kick the UN. Evertime one of dub's international policy objectives falls short, kick the UN. Etc.... etc... etc...

Rush Limbaugh has been nominated for the same prize.

The UN would gain a lot of respect in my book if it had all the desiring nominees duke it out in a cage match.

the answer mcsluggo is nothing. nada. there is no connection with the un.
Quote:
Nomination for the Nobel Prizes
Each year the respective Nobel Committees send individual invitations to thousands of members of academies, university professors, scientists from numerous countries, previous Nobel Laureates, members of parliamentary assemblies and others, asking them to submit candidates for the Nobel Prizes for the coming year. These nominators are chosen in such a way that as many countries and universities as possible are represented over time.

and yes, the un could get more comical.

Probably doesn't unless he wins it, then the post stands. He's a joke.

I don't think I got my point across, sorry.
The UN = a bunch of diplomats centered in NYC, USA
Nobel prize = a bunch of academics that meet once a year in Oslo, Norway.
two different groups.

It was an honest mistake, a bunch of idiots honoring morons. It's done all of the time at the UN.

yeah. your original correction was ambigous because the Nobel committe doesn't have a lot to do with nominations, either. So those of us confused in the first place were still confused afterward.
But none of that changes the fact that the UN can suck it like Nash in April.
