Successful Scenario
Due to Dallas, L.A. Lakers, and Portland being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Dallas, L.A. Lakers, and Portland had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Kobe isn't worth 4 starters on a 67 win team.

That's why I said this will never happen. And we dont need this. Rather keep Josh and Devin than to sacrifice them just for the sake of landing Kobe.

A lineup with Kobe and Dirk would be sick. We would need two legitimate spot up shooters at the 1 and 3 and a rebounding-defensive minded 5.

Fazekas can shoot?

Fazekas is too slow to play our 3 if that's what you mean. He can be our backup 5, potentially giving us three outside shooters to team up with Kobe/Dirk =]

Kobe/Dirk would be amazing.

Someone did some excellent research sometime last season (I'll try to find it) on who had the higher percentage in this situation, for the whole league with minimum number of attempts, etc...

If I remember correctly, Kobe was pretty far down the list, and Dirks percentage was higher. Though kobe had many more attempts....

That's precisely what I had in mind when I answered 'Dirk' earlier.

For 2004-05...

http://www.82games.com/clutchplayers.htm

On offense, Dirk is ranked #4 in the clutch and Kobe at #35. Overall for offense and defense, Dirk is at #5 and Kobe at #21.
