Steve Nash would like a word with you. We've been an iso team for almost 10 years. Nash's best season in Dallas was 8.8 assists per game. His WORST season in Phx so far? 10.5 assists per game.
Devin was not a great creator but the system and the coach did NOTHING to help in his development.

If Kidd can get 9-10 apg in that horrible New Jersey offensive system. He can do it in Dallas.

Close, Marc Stein was on ESPNEWS just a minute ago, and said the two organizations were currently in a "trade call" with the league. No deal has ever not been completed in this stage of the game. He said expect it to be officially by at least 2:00 PM ET. Also confirmed that Harris, Van Horn, and Hassell are on their way to New Jersey. DeSagana Diop has yet to leave. Kidd, Wright, and Allen are on their way to Dallas.
So expect a new conference pretty soon.

lets please not pretend that the Steve Nash the Mavs had was the same guy the Sun have. Lets also not compare Amare and Marion with Dirk and Fin...and lets not compare the Suns' run and gun to the Mavs style. The Nash that Nellie had was not nearly as good as the Nash the Suns currently have.

Nothing like apples to orangutang comparisons which is about as close as the Mavs under Nellie are to the current Mavs under Avery or the Phoenix Suns with Nash. Of course some people think all you freako aliens look alike. Personally, I think that there is only a passing resemblance to Sam Cassell and Sike.

Well, wait a second...that logic cuts all kinds of ways.
Because JKidd 2.0 isn't going to have Amare and Marion in Phoenix's style of play, or even Dirk and Fin in Nellie's.
He's going to have Dirk--Avery Edition and .....Josh Howard? Jason Terry?
Ocelot's point ain't so crazy after all. There IS a transition to be made.

Well since neither the Net's nor the Mavs are trading the best shooters or scorers that Kidd and Harris had to pass to, the rest of the season should be an excellent answer to the question of whether the Nets or the Mavs have the best team/system for a PG. But to compare the Nellie Mavs when Nash was here with today's Mavs is vastly different. Nellie's Mavs never made it to the Finals, never won more than 60 games, but they did get bumped out in the 1st round once. And Nash never had as good and athletic of a slasher player as Josh when he was here. And I remember Nellie urging Nash to shoot more and pass less. But just with the personnell and system change is enough to make most comparisons not very meaningful.

I'm just saying Jason Kidd is a better assist man than Nash straight up.
Nash exploded when he was placed in the perfect situation for his somewhat limited game (no D all O)...Kidd has always been a top assist man no matter the style of offense or surrounding cast. He is a better overall assist man than Kidd is my point. Even with that terrible O in NJ he was about even with Nash who is in an insane system surrounded by an amazing cast (until this past week).
Kidd will have to transition of course, but Kidd didn't have to wait until he found the perfect situation (as Nash did to his credit) to explode onto the scene.
Plus, let me just say that Kidd has never played for an all star team like Nash's Suns.
