Basketball: Kaman ist eingebürgert
Grünes Licht für Chris Kaman: Der Cen-
ter der Los Angeles Clippers hat am
Mittwoch in Los Angeles seinen deut-
schen Pass erhalten. Kaman ist ab so-
fort spielberechtigt. Durch die Einbür-
gerung Kamans, dessen Urgroßeltern
Deutsche waren, sind die Chancen der
deutschen Basketballer auf das Olympia-
Ticket stark gestiegen.

Combining Kaman and Dirk is going to give the German team what Cuban could never give Dirk: A chance with a legitimate team.
No NBA team ever won a championship without a capable center.

It will be fun to watch Germany win Gold over the USA and the rest of the world.
Dirk plus a real center is a Gold medal assuming the rest of the team is average or better.

This is really exciting, although Gold Medal might be a bit premature. Let's let them qualify for the Olympics first.

Kaman is continuing a great tradition of German nationalization for reasons of basketball that Big Shawn Bradley pioneered...

People who are talking Gold Medal now must have never seen the german guards play. We have a nice frontcourt now with Dirk, Kaman and (assuming they get healthy in time) Femerling, Okulaja (Okulaja is doubtfull though, he might not be able to play in Peking).
No matter who plays in the backcourt though, they aren´t up to international standards. We are a better team with Kaman but I´m not sure he´s enough to overcome the weakness of our guards. At least I´m more optimistic about qualifying for the Olympics now.
