Official General 2008 NBA Preseason Thread
Oden still doesn't look as fluid as he did pre-injury and he still has some weight he needs to work off.. But he did have a couple nice dunks after crashing the offensive rebounds.
Did you guys see Rudy Fernandez's alley oop reverse layup with the left hand? That kid is a very special athlete. Portland is loaded.
---
Ron Artest made his debut tonight. He looked pretty good but Yao doesn't look to be in basketball shape just yet, we'll see how it goes for them down in Suckston.

Well down in "Suckston" Ron Artest did pretty good in his debut. Yao and Scola both rusty. I'm really surprised at Landry. Glad we have him locked up for three years.

Locking up Landry was a necessary move for the Rockettes of Suckston. I really like that kid.

I didn't see the Blazers game but from the highlights Oden looked to be in great in physical appearance and playing-wise. He was man handeling anyone around him. Makes it kind of scary that this is his 1st game in a year.

Greg Oden last night is what parents warn their kids from when they wont go to bed early. This guy was throw mikki moore and the other ragdolls around and pretty much had his way with them. we are definitely going to need Damp and Diop to be solid on D against this hybrid kid. Not to mention when doubled, he always found Roy open on the perimeter.

I was highly impressed from the highlights I saw of Oden, a year off yet this kid has not lost a step. Oden should have a good year barring further injury and is definitely a player to watch this season.

oden looked very aggressive. i hope he can become as good as everyone thought he could. i wonder how serious antawn jamison's knee injury is. i wouldn't be surprised if he ruptured a ligament.

When you have to guard Dirk, you better worry about your ankles and knees.

it turns out jamison's knee injury is just a bruised knee.

His knee isn't the only thing that is bruised after that exhibition Dirk put on him.

The bad news is Shaq had 21 points 10 rebounds against Atlanta in just 23 minutes.
The good news is Robin Lopez had a very unimpressive 5 points, 1 rebounds and 6 fouls in 16 minutes.

The bad one. Brook Lopez is the short-haired, better one (who owned UT in the tourney but UT still kicked Stanford's asses ).

Watching the Miami/NJ game on ESPN2 from Parris/
Harris is playing awful. Three turnovers in the first 5 minutes.

gahhhh, why do you have to bring up bad memories? i was at that game, and it was SO painful.
anyways, robin is a better on-the-ball defender than brook is, but brook is by far the better offensive player.

CDR is the steal of this draft....but hopefully Foster can steal that title 2 years from now.
Fernandez has Nash-Kidd like tendencies, in terms of play making ability. Great find for Pritchard all it cost was some of Paul Allen's pocket change.

I prayed the Mavs would trade up to get Billy Walker or CDR. I don't understand why CDR went so late. I guess its based on potential because I think he's going to come in and be NBA Ready already.

I don't know about that. Billy Walker was a hell of a steal as well. He's a freak. I hated the Celtics got him. Did you see his nasty dunk on Theo Ratliff last night?

Here's some news on a former Maverick great.
--------------
Magloire Injures Left Hand in Heat Loss
Posted Oct 9 2008 8:39PM
MIAMI, Oct. 9 -- Miami Heat center Jamaal Magloire suffered a fracture of the third metacarpal in his left hand during the third quarter of play in today’s preseason contest against the New Jersey Nets in Paris, France. Magloire was taken to a local Paris hospital for x-rays which confirmed the fracture.
Magloire will not accompany the team to London, England for their second of two preseason games against New Jersey in Europe and will be reevaluated upon his return to Miami.
Magloire was signed by Miami as a free agent on September 2, 2008.

I wish he would retire so we could finally hang his jersey from the rafters.

Matt Barnes with 19 and 13. Picking him up for the minimum was one of the shrewdest moves of the off-season.

Robin Lopez is looking very good out there. Supposedly the worse of the two Lopez brothers. 4 Blocks at the half? Not saying much against the weak frontline of Denver but...I like the way he plays.

The new TNT graphics are terrible! The 9 looks like a q, and the 6 looks like a b. Turrbull.

Outdoor huh? What seems weirder to me is that the score was 77-72? Was that the same teams or was it in 10 mph winds?

Obviously, Denver and Phoenix are defensive juggernauts in outdoor arenas.
