Wow my dad said that the polls were empty in the afternoon.
It took him 5 minutes to vote.

its interesting how Obama is ahead in the popular vote by 300,000 and yet trails 3-16 in electoral votes...spoken too soon.

I guess there's a chance, but I doubt it. He would have to run up the vote in the urban counties something fierce, in order to make up for the whipping he will take in the rural areas.

These are the early voting results for our four-county area:
COLLIN - REP 134,865 (62%) DEM 83,746 (38%)
DALLAS - REP 200,246 (40%) DEM 305,501 (60%)
DENTON - REP 110,014 (61%) DEM 70,130 (39%)
TARRANT - 227,307 (54%) DEM 196,773 (46%)
TOTAL - REP 672,432 (50.6%) DEM 656,150 (49.4%)
We are very evenly split around these parts!

Chum, it's split around the entire country. Look at how close the popular vote is...
Anyways, one thing is for sure.. Democrats carry alot of places around this country that I could care absolutely less about.. the northeast.. I could live without. California.. couldn't care less if it falls off in the ocean...
Perhaps it's time for 2 separate countries.

The biggest surprise to me so far is how big an early lead Obama has in both PA and OH. He is flat kicking the crap out of McCain in PA. As much time as McCain/Palin spent there in the last couple weeks, I thought it would be closer.
I am also mildy surprised to see TX within about five points so far. It may still get out to the ten or so margin the pollers had it at, but maybe not. That could be a major sign of a very large cyclical shift occuring in national politics. We'll have to see the Hispanic vote in TX to know for sure. But if that vote is sharply for the Dems, the Reps may have a hard time winning a presidential election for the next generation or so.

Path in VA has been harder and up for grabs now. NC Obama looks good but close and also IN, who would have thought a democrat could be this close. Plus a big county is out for Obama, so do not count out IN.
I just hope reps keep dropping money in PA. It is looking blue around the country. I am afraid we are going to come up short in the senate. Lizzy is gone and that's good. 200-85 Obama. Beautiful.

Janett, I am hearing that VA is looking pretty safe for Obama. Haven't heard much analysis about NC. I'm a bit surprised to see the size of the early lead there.
Indiana is, I think, going to be very close. Not sure Obama will pick up enough votes in the NW to get there, the more I look at it, though.

Yes, Lizzy Dole was a rubber stamp for George W Bush. She signed everything the neocons sent her and now she gets the boot. Her last ad was very bad talking about god and religion. If you want to see a sad ad, go to youtube and watch Elizabeth Dole ad. Her opponent is a Sunday school teacher.
Lizzy, is out and another thing was Lizzy very seldom stayed in NC, the state she was a senator in. They booted her. Bob Dole is her husband.

haha CNN just hypothetically gave McCain like every state left that he has ANY chance at all in (even a slim one) except Wash/Oregon/Cali and Hawaii, and still couldn't get him to 270.

Yeah, that was some pretty good TV there. Of course, I am still sticking around to watch the carnage.
And the speeches tonight are going to be great drama. Will McCain (don't know if we will hear from Palin) be gracious in conceding defeat? Will Obama congratulate McCain on the campaign he ran?
And will Obama paint a pretty picture for the near future? In many ways, this is a very, very important speech. He has won this thing...now let's see what he can do with it.

Rabbit, what happens in the usa, normally when it is a republican president, it is normally a congress majority of democrats and close in the senate of republicans and democrats. This way it is checks and balances. The same, if it is a democrat president, normally the majority is republican congress and senate. This way, no party runs crazy bills and policies over the usa. What happened with Bush and the neocons, it was a republican congress and republican senate, so he passed anything he wanted.
The last two years, Bush could not pass all he wanted because the American people elected a democrat congress in 2006. Now Bush can't get everything he wants but the damage had already been done. The neocons put party and what they believed in, over country. It was not enough republicans to fight the neocon republicans. Now, after this election, within the republican party, it is going to be huge spats and fights. Each one is blamming the other.
Now the public is upset with the republicans and elected mainly democrats. It won't be checks and balances as democrats will be a majority in congress and senate. In the senate, democrats wanted 60 seats but will probably end up at 57,58 or 59 and outside shot at 60.
The congress and senate plays an important role.
