Eddie Sefko posted his recap on the Mavs blog literally 10 seconds after the buzzer (with the final score and everything). I guess he writes up the whole thing and then just adds in the last line or two.

Well. I've seen better basketball games... What was that someone said about a moral loss?
Naa. It's a win, and the other night was tough for these guys. They were a little off tonight, so it's nice to get the win in spite of all of that.

Well, a win is a win. I gladly take it, even though I would have liked it to come along a little easier. At least, the guys were able to gain more confidence in their own abilities when it comes to closing out games in crunch time.

Dirk's three pointer to go up by four with 25 second left was just a work of beauty.
Gotta love it.

I'm not feeling the recap tonight. If someone wants to start the post game thread go for it.
Love Dirk hitting a huge, backbreaking three. Love seeing Kidd make crucial defensive plays over and over.
Love seeing Jet play so aggressively.
Overall the game was very lackluster. The Mavs were clearly hungover and tired from Tuesday, got outrebounded, let Okafor go off, and still won.
Ultimately winning games like this is what helps you win higher playoff seedings. So good job.

"Moral defeat" in my mind, as I alluded to in the initial post. The only good thing about tonight's game was the outcome. in the game, rebounding, turnovers, perimeter defense, inefficient offense were sources of vexations.
NBA basketball is a weird game, so we shouldn't dwell too much about how a lottery team w/o it's best player and it's 2nd best player traded hung with us for 48 minutes, but it still is pretty annoying.
I wanna see more out of Dirk. It seems blasphemous to criticize him when he's averaging 25/9 this year, but you get a sense that his shooting needs to be better, and he needs to get to the line more. Also, you guys know he is shooting 33% in the 4th quarter this year? In fact, before that dagger tonight, he was continuing that trend w/ 1/5 shooting.
Anywho, Dirk is the least of this teams problems, but you get a sense he needs to turn back the clock 2 years... this team goes as far as Dirk takes them.
I also feel Josh Howard improves this team by 2-3 points per game when he comes back.

A win is a win and it doesnt matter much how much you win by in games like these. We knew that the Spurs game was a game to get up for and this game we obviously coasted a bit. Winning 10 of our last 12 games suits me fine.

Checking out the box...
The Mavericks won a game where they were outshot 49% to 45%. That's pretty nice every once in a while.

Feel you on that. That's a classic Spurs-esque thing to do.

On the flip side how How do you let that collection of players shoot 49%? I didn't watch the game but it looks like small ball may be catching up with us.

It strikes me that Kidd has become a glue-guy. He does a little of everything, but is certainly not a big scoring threat.
It seemed JET was having some trouble with the attention JJB is getting. I noticed him wave off JJB at one point. Later, JJB waved off JET and pointed to where he should go. JET didn't look very happy about the slight. On TV a few days ago, a video of JET had him reminding us that JJB's first job was 'picking up our bags.'

I noticed that too. After JJB's missed shot, Kidd and Terry looked pretty upset.

Just watched the finale minute. Who the hell does Barea think he is? Even if he's playing out of his mind, he's not as good as JET. And he almost turned the ball over right after that.

It's the normal style. I'm a sports journalist as well and thus I know the procedure. If you are in a hurry, respectively the text has to be available as soon as possible, you write your stuff throughut the game and you only add a few lines after the game ended. The second version (normally finished one or two hours after the game) includes quotations and an updated recap.

Plus the gap between the best and worst teams has closed a bit this season.
The difference between good and bad teams is winning close games. Any team can almost win. Don't mean squat if ya don't.

I am not liking this midget starting lineup anymore. JJ should be coming off the bench because this lineup is really hurting our rebounding, something we had imporved upon the last few weeks
