Official GDT: Blazers @ Mavs - 02/04/09 - 7:30pm CST
First night of a tough back to back (in Utah tomorrow night on TNT).
The Blazers have a record of 30-17 and are sitting in 4th place in the Western Conference.
This is obviously a big game for us.
The Mavericks are 14-7 at home, so let's continue our winning ways and defend our home court.
We all know Dallas have played well as of late due to many reasons:
1. The arrival of Darrell Armstrong
2. The freedom Carlisle gave Kidd
3. The re-emergence of the old Josh Howard before his all-star selection
Dallas have won three straight.
Portland have won five straight.
Something's gotta give.
Injury Report:
Their starting point guard, Steve Blake is out for this game.
The keys to this game IMHO, is obviously to stay in front of Brandon Roy and make him take contested jumpers over you keeping him away from the free throw line and to try to get their bigs in to early foul trouble (Oden and Pryzbilla). As long as we play solid defense, we should win this game and move closer to where we want to be in the Western conference (homecourt).
Go Mavs!
Portland 92 - 103 Dallas

Go Mavs...... I am not worried much about this game. I think we can win it, although Portland is a good team. I am more worried about tomorrow against Utah especially with all their players out its never a good sign. Its just one of those things where I think we are more likely to lose tomorrow then tonite, but let wait and see hopefully we get both.

Portland has only 1 win v a +.500 team on the road in the last 2 months, and it was when Paul went down to injury. They're 4-10 on the road v +.500 teams.
SO lets get that win please.

if anybody lives in Dallas and wants to go to the game, let me know, we need to sell our tickets for tonight's game. $5 each would be fine by us, they're just some uppers.

Aldridge actually glad to see more of Dirk
Eddie Sefko
The Dallas-area NBA pipeline has another product stopping through town tonight. Actually, two of them.
Seagoville's LaMarcus Aldridge is having a stellar season for the Portland Trail Blazers. And part of the reason is because he's been able to play a more comfortable style of game this season with the arrival of true center Greg Oden.
"Last year, I played here and (Erick) Dampier guarded me and he tried to beat me up the whole game, to just be truthful about it,'' Aldridge said today at the Blazers' shootaround. "But now he has to guard Greg and I get Dirk (Nowitzki), who's more my body type and it kind of makes it easier for me because I don't see that big, heavy guy all the time.''
That may fall under the category of be careful what you wish for, but we'll find out more about that tonight. Aldridge is no Nowitzki, but he is averaging better than 17 points and six rebounds per game.
In addition, former Garland Standout Ike Diogu is a Blazers' reserve. He's been stuck deep on the bench, playing only twice (for four minutes) in the last five games.
By the way, the Blazers definitely haven't forgotten about Christmas Night, when the Mavericks stormed into Portland and scored a 102-94 victory with a 12-2 finishing kick. The Blazers remember it all too well.
"We do,'' Aldridge said. "We had that game and they made plays down the stretch. So we'll try to come in and play better defense tonight.''
|
Good luck LaMarcus...You're about to get served.

It should be probable with the way the Mavs are playing.
I'm going to be really irked if the refs are as bad this game as they were last game. There just isn't an excuse for it at a home game.

A win would answer more questions about our Mavs than a loss...

Very wise grasshopper.
I think every game before the all-star break is crucial. Can't wait for the Boston home game on the 14th!!!

We've beaten them before. I don't know if losing Blake is that much of a loss for them. I guess either points are inexperienced, so Kidd should be able to eat them for lunch.

Interesting note about our beloved Mavs. Outside of the Bucks/Warriors we have the largest disparity between home and away games thus far.
20 of final 35 games at home, lets make some muthaf'n noise

Honestly, i don´t expect a win. Mavs have bee to inconstant this season. Maybe they can win, but it´s questionable.
