Everyone is going to have their games where it's just not there, it doesn't matter who they are. Dirk is Dirk and he finds a way to balance it out.

Oh I certainly agree. Dirk is the greatest thing to ever happen to Mavericks basketball, and it's not even close. It's just that he does have tendencies to lose his confidence really quickly, and it's hard for him to get it back. Tonight was just a tough one for him. The fans were on him from jump street, and it just never seemed he was able to get his head in the game. This is definitely not something that happens often. Dirk is money.

I agree. He actually has way more potential than Wright does and has a pretty good outside game.

Dear Mr. NBA schedule maker man and associates,
We don't want to be on national tv anymore.
Not ESPN, not ABC, not TNT. Nothing. Nada.
K?
Thanks,

I want Green to start, and I want to see him play until he matures. Give him the tony parker treatment. He has too much talent and too much skill to be sulking on the bench when a player inferior to him is playing above him.

One thing I wanted to look at before I jumped the gun on my defense with Dirk v Utah. It's not like he's terrible vs them or that Utah owns him. In the games this year he has been effective. It's just like the bottom fell out for him with the sequence of events that happened in that game. He's had his fair share of good performances vs Utah and in Utah.
He probably put way too much thought into this one tonight and he played himself out of this one.
Plus...he was excited for his Dirkiversary

If you'll think about it, in Dirk's case that says a lot more about the team around him than it does Dirk itself. It's easy to quit when it's just you out there. It's hard to quit when you are responsible for others.

When Dirk plays bad everybody plays bad...oh and before people start to bash the Mavs like always when was the last time the Mavs won at Utah even with Devin?....this was just was a bad game for everybody man but I'm not excuse for the Mavs losing a back to back road game because the Lakers where on a back to back road game and they won.

don't defend him, if he's going to abuse the English language, he's going to be abused in return.

Called that one.

I agree with you to a point. I do think Wright plays very good defense most nights, and he'll get you blocks and steals, something you won't see Green get very often.
On the other hand, Green is exponentially better on the offensive side of the floor. I don't get it. We all complain we need a shooter for this team, and we trade for Carroll, yet a very good 3PT shooter is sitting on the bench. His percentage may not be great, but a lot of those shots come from the beginning of the year. Now, he's knocking down treys which a person in his face.
Green has a good jumper, and obviously has the dunking ability to put together some drives. Wright, on the flip side, is a decent driver some nights and a .320-.350 3PT, IMO. I know his actual percentage is lower, but as of late, he's shot a little better.
Still, he doesn't come to where Green is with his threes, or with his jumper, or probably with his drives, or with his put-backs, or with his ability to recieve lobs, or anything else on the offensive end (except maybe rebounds?).
Green has been sacrificed for his lack of defense, partly as an excuse to why Carlisle isn't playing him, partly because its true. But is Green's defense any worse than Terry's? I don't think so. And Terry plays 35+ minutes a night. Also, I was watching Green's defense last night, and it looked pretty solid. Nothing fancy, but I don't remember him giving up any points.
Its a toss-up on what to do with Green. I, personally, side with the people who say we need to have Green get playing time just so he can get better time, because letting him rot on the bench isn't going to make him better. I'm not saying Green needs to upset Wright's starting spot in the lineup, but I do think that Green should get 15 minutes a game on average. He can bring a scoring option against better defenses, a shooter for poor perimeter defending teams, and an athelete who can hopefully keep up with some of hte faster/stronger players who we otherwise might have trouble matching up with.

How is Green better than Wright? Because he can jump higher?

I don't think it's one is that much better than the other. But doesn't that make it even more strange that Wright starts and Green doesn't even get garbage time?

Bench guys are specialists. Some give you something offensively, some give you something defensively, but often not both.

Wright has been able to provide the Mavericks with great defense, and a little bit of offense.
