And then the first time he drives all night, he goes up like a 50 pound weakling and gets it stripped.

What´s wrong with Dirk? What´s wrong with Dirk.....
I can´t hear it anymore. He´s the only constant scoring threat on this team with Jet out. That makes it very easy for other teams to defend him, especially since Dirk is not a slasher type who´d still get his (and he´ll never be that type of player).
Still without Dirk this team would play for better lottery odds right now.

okay yeah as much as we're ragging on dirk, there's just not a whole lot we can do when they throw three people at him. If we stick him on the baseline or the low block, pressure comes from the top. If we put him the high post, they collapse. If he gets it out on the 3 point line, they blitz another guy at him to crowd him.

Fidel, but it isn't like he isn't getting opportunities to shoot. He is passing up opportunities to shoot.

Carlisle's a lot nice than I am. I would have made a few folks play 48 minutes tonight after last night. I would have told them "you're staying out there until you get your S in gear".

George is 2/8, one of those makes was an uncontested layup/dunk where his man did not even guard him.
Remind me why we play him? I haven't been watching, so has he been shutting anyone down on defense? With Wright evolving as our shutdown defender and a much better offensive player, I don't really think George even has a place on this team.
Also, I have to admit: I'm mad at Dirk for not being a superstar. Superstars shoot out of their slumps. But not Dirk. He decides that he will not shoot at all. Basically no shooting at all. I know he's been doubled the past few games, but good players can break a double team. Dirk hasn't, whether it be by scoring or passing...

Oh, and its not like Dirk's shooting poorly. He just thinks he is. 6/9 sounds pretty good to me....

Now that was another aggressive play there by Dirk. It was a forced shot. But that is aggression that is needed. Don't wait for the double teams. Make your move before it gets there. Then if a shot isn't there, kick it out. But he can easily shoot the ball a lot more than he has the last 4 games.
And the Mavs should be 0-4. They've been lucky they've played three EASY teams since the break.

It´s true that he hasn´t been agressive the last few games Bayliss. But in the San Antonio game for example they often crowded him and played him very agressive and physical. Teams can do that especially with Damp and Kidd on the floor, who both aren´t scorers at all. That´s a reason why Damp doesn´t play much I think, and it´s also the main reason I was against the Kidd trade. I feared losing Harris scoring would be too much of a downside which seems to be true to me now, even with Kidd playing well at times, Howard´s just too inconsistent.
And that´s a structural flaw in our team. Both Kidd and Dirk need scorers (and at least two capable defenders) around and we have neither, especially with Jet out.

And with 30 games to go, Carlisle still hasn't figured out a rotation. Granted Terry has been hurt.
But why even start Damp if you are going to play him 5 minutes? And that was after giving him NOTHING against SA.
The Mavs don't really have a shot with Damp. But they don't have a shot at all without him.

And that's why he can't wait. Once he catches the ball, he can't sit there and wait 3 seconds for the double to arrive. He needs to be decisive with the ball.
They will not call a charge every time. Put your head down and go. Make a quick spin and shoot. Pump fake and go. Shoot as soon as you ccatch it.
There is no excuse to wait for the defense to set up or for him to jab step 3 times. Be decisive.

lol, every time I see Green he's impressive.
How he can't see minutes over Devean F'n George is beyond me. We need a guy that can penetrate and get to the line.... funny thing is we have that kind of player on the team yet he sits on the bench until garbage time.
Something must be going on behind the scenes.

I agree with that, unfortunatly it´s not in his nature.
Often though he doesn´t even get the touches, and I blame that on the coach also.
But I also wish dirk would just go nuts at times. I miss those times with Nash and Fin, when Dirk put up 40 and 20 games in the playoffs against Minnesota and San Antonio (but again Nash and Fin helped with that too I think, it´s not just Dirk beeing passive now).

Carlisle was playing Stackhouse over Devean George. The only reason George saw the court tonight was because Stack was out. Let that one sink in for a minute.
I'm not an advocate of George. But George is a lot better than Stack. Hell, George's percentage tonight is the same as Stack's for the year!

im not gonna say much bout the win, even tho it was a blowout. i'm very glad that j-ho stepped up, and at least dirk's small amount of point was n't due to a "5 for 19" or "4 for 16" type of night, but of course i'd love to see him take MORE THAN TEN SHOTS DAMN IT!!! i guess we just didn't need that tonight, but still!!!
anyway, here's somerep for ya'll, thx for the mojo once again!!!
GO MAVS!!!

Well the Blazers lost to the Spurs without Duncan also so I'm not really mad about the Spurs lost anymore, I don't know what's going on with Dirk but I just hope he get's it together because we need him, oh and another thing...we really see how important Jason Terry is to this team now.

This article by Hollinger outlines JET's importance very clearly.
As for tonight's game, it's great that MAVS bounced back from an awful performance but I am really worried about Dirk. He is extremely reluctant to shoot the ball, which could be that he is mentally not into the game (off the court problems perhaps?). And that is the reason for his low number of shots and not the fact that Kidd/Carlisle aren't calling plays for him. I saw him on a number of occasions where he had room to shoot but hesisted and the defenders closed on him.
Let's hope that it is temporary and he comes back stronger than ever. This is the most important stretch of the season for the Mavs and they can't afford long stretches of bad performances by their superstar

Um, why "should they" be 0-4 when they've won those games? If you mean to say they might be 0-4 if they had played four good teams, that's a different story than they "should be" 0-4.
