Bench
Simple question. Who's bench is better. Dallas or Denver.

For this series, or the season as a whole?

Well obviously I'm going to be biased on this so I wont vote. But I'll just say Denver has the leagues 2nd leading shot Blocker coming off the bench. JR, like Terry, can go for 40 any given night, and Anthony Carter plays sound defense and actually averages almost 5 assists a game...coming off the bench. Then there are guys like Kleiza who can shoot the 3, and Balkman is a good energy guy. I haven't really studied any other teams bench in depth, so I wont say who's is better, but those would be my reasons for rating Denver's bench, this year, pretty high.

The fact that Balkman gets no PT and Kleiza gets barely any at this stage says a lot to Denver's depth. Kleiza would be the 2nd best scorer off our bench.

Yeah, last year Kleiza was our first person off the bench, as JR Smith started alongside AI. That said, he had a bunch of huge games including a 40 point game against Utah. With the addition of Birdman and Dahntay Jones starting, that has pushed Kleiza down to the 9th person on the team.

Coming from a Nuggets fan, I can tell you first hand that Linas Kleiza is terrible. There is a reason why he isn't getting much playing time. Go take a look at his 3-point numbers for this season. There have been months where he has shot below 19% from downtown (keeping in mind almost every shot he takes is uncontested).
As far as the series goes so far, Denver has a better bench. I expect things to change in Game 3 and 4 however. Terry is bound to go off after struggling in Game 1 and 2 so the difference in benches will be a lot smaller by Saturday night. Just a though...

Come on people. They play freaking Anthony Carter for half the game.
When Josh is healthy, the Mavs bench is clearly better.

The problem isn't our bench, it's our starters...
Josh Howard, Erick Dampier, Jason Kidd - those guys have killed us this series (each for different reasons...)

Yeah, I tend to agree. Josh is hurt, and even when he can play it causes him to jack up 18 footers.
Damp is getting killed by some guy named Nay Nay
Kidd has been good this season for a couple of big 4th quarter buckets, but now is only good for a couple of big 4th quarter turnovers...a 6-10 point swing in the wrong direction for him.
Bench, starters, whatever....We can't keep a lineup out there that has enough defensive weapons and enough offensive weapons at the same time. On this team, no one can do both well.

Why does it seem like our problems always stem back to the 2 and 5?
I love JET, but I'd trade him in a heartbeat for a guy who shoots half as well but can play defense...
And I don't care if he's old - gimme Shaq (he'd still be the best center to ever suit up in a Mavs uniform...)

Denver.
Terry is our only good bench player. Maybe Bass also.

In Denver we went with the midget backup PG for a while.
It's a bit like riding a moped- fun for a while until you realize how ridiculous it really is.
I have a feeling you'll be saying the same thing in a year or so, even though I want guys like Barea to succeed.

I can't wait to see who we pick up or trade for this offseason. The season isn't even over yet and I know, I can feel that this is going to be the longest offseason that I will endure as a fan.
The reinforcements should be athletic, able to hit the 3, aggressive, not old as dirt.
It was the first thing I thought of this morning. Our help, who we will start next season.
