i heard on ESPN radio the raptors offered kapono a crap load of money, so he's pretty much off the list as well.

So who's left on the list now that we can pretty much scratch Francis, Pavlovic, Varejao, Kapono off the list? Mo Williams and Gerald Wallace seem out of reach but you never know. GHill?

Why would we want Francis, Pavlovic, Varejao, or Kapono...and for that matter a point guard in Mo Williams (did you mean MoPete?)

MoPete and Gerald Wallace are probably 40%s-- not likely but there is defintitely a huge chance we can land one of them. Grant Hill we have the money for but we have absolutely nothing to interest him.

Terry for Artest either straight-up or in a 3 way, sign a 3 point specialist. That covers every need this team has. As long as AJ keeps his pimp hand strong.

Hill looks to be going to Phoenix...so scratch him off too.

Looks like posey, pj brown, and whoever GS doesn't pick out of Barnes and Pietrus...maybe Mason

Thats the only thing you have said this last month. Avery doesnt want Artest and neither do the majotiry of Mavs fans.

I think its absolutely silly that you think you are innocent of being confrontational. You sent me a message asking me why I always picked fights with you like you were Mr. innocent.

Anyway, I dont know what proof you need, whether its quotes in the newspaper from Avery stating he isnt interesting in Artest, or whether you want to look at informal polling and the responses here on DM.com. What do you want Chum?

You have newspaper quotes where Johnson says he isn't interested in Artest? Really? Link me to those.

Other than that, the informal polling data I get says that the "majority of Mavs fans" are definitely NOT opposed to getting Ron Artest in here.

And even still, I wouldn't go far as to speak for them.

But, go ahead and link those quotes from Avery.

If I cared enough I would, but I'm not really willing to go searching that long just to make you happy. I'm sure enough people here remember those.

Well, if you can't find the exact quotes, maybe you can give me the gist of what they said?

I find it surprising that AJ would even talk specifically about the possibility of acquiring a guy presently under contract with another team, because of the NBA tampering rules. But if you saw it, I would sure be fascinated to read it. Again, what was the gist of it?

If you are going to speak on behalf of coach Johnson, you ought to have something quite at the ready to back you up.

The gist was that Avery said he wasnt interested in trading for Artest.

I think the most that Avery has said when the subject of Artest has been brought up is a "We like our team the way it is" kinda quote.

Of course every time Artest has come up for trade before this has been midseason and why would Avery want to disrupt his team in the middle of a season? But every offseason in the last two years we've added players that have been a hard-nosed defense-first player.

Signed George/ Buckner as free agents last year. Acquired Croshere for Daniels. Acquired Johnson for spare parts.

Signed Christie and Diop the year before that. Picked up Griffin.

I cannot imagine Avery NOT wanting either AK or Artest (or both). Especially since EVERY coach since the beginning of time is convinced that THEY can reach that troubled player and unlock the potential inside. It's the ego part of coaching.
