Leonard wasnt great honestly. He was a borderline NBA talent and then had major nerve damage in his foot. He claimed it was his anti-semitic remark that ended his career, but it was a combination of talent/injury.
I wish him well, but he's not a great talent that the Mavs missed out on. I would honesly prefer Moses Brown back and he's still available AFAIK.

Will Barton officially a FA. I guess no interest with Holiday?

Tim MacMahon reported that his understanding of the situation was Mavs coach Jason Kidd being a key catalyst in the team not signing Dragic. Kidd doesn't believe Dragic "has any juice left."
"My understanding is that J-Kidd doesn't think Dragic has any juice left, so the Mavs basically asked him to be a foot shorter version of Boban and sit at the end of the bench all season," Tim MacMahon said. "He said hell no."
(This is from Sept by the way)
this is hilarious to me that Kidd would have that much impact on a player acquisition. hes not bright.

Then why did they even offer anything? That's the maddening part.
I wonder if this stems from some sort of petty rivalry when the Lakers played the Heat in the finals.

So Dragic has "no juice left" but Frank is a keeper. Got it!

Magic are releasing RJ Hampton. I haven?t watched the Magic at all, but he was a former lottery pick from a few years ago. Athletic as hell, and he?s a local kid from Little Elm I believe. I always like to kick the tires on former lottery picks to see if a change of scenery does them any good.
Edit: Hampton wasn?t a lottery pick, but was taken in the first round. Looks like he is signing with the Pistons.

Cutting Theo is a horrible idea. He is the glue that holds the players together.

Kidd is a moron.
He got a reputation for smart as a player, but as a coach, he's continued to show time after time that he is the dumbest non-player guy on payroll for either team

Keneth Faried? Lol. If JKidd thinks Goran is washed, he has to think Faried is already in the grave.

He rebounds which is something 97% of our roster can't do.

He definitely used to as well as hustle. But he last played half a season 5 years ago. Our roster is too good for him to craxk the rotation.

Comparing career stats, Faried is better than Powell, Faried is only 2 years older than Powell

Pretty sure we were tongue in cheek about the idea. I haven't even seen where that rumor came from....something like a month ago he wanted to come back.

Kenneth Faried: Continues producing in win
producing in win
By RotoWire Staff
Feb 10, 2023
Faried supplied 12 points (6-15 FG, 0-1 FT), 15 rebounds, two assists, four steals and three blocks across 39 minutes in the Capitanes' 114-113 win over Iowa on Tuesday.
Faried's richly diversified stat line underscores his dominance down low versus the Wolves. The veteran big often profiles as a men among boys at the G League level, now having posted three consecutive double-doubles and multiple blocks in three of the past four contests.
Come on Nico and Cuban, sign the man. We need rebounds against Jokic, Adams, Ayton, Zubac, Sabonis, Valanciunas, and Looney.

Sadly I think this is most likely true.
The real question is if it is, does Kyrie stay.

I'm fully not kidding about a lot of these guys if we didn't have Kidd as the coach.
But in reality, if Kidd gets Kyrie to stay, then he'll obviously earn another season. But he'll likely be McMillaned on the same timeline by next trade deadline. .

Our big man situation is so bad that no idea is a bad idea. Faried brings hustle, rebounds and some defense. We do not have that combination atm. But...J Kidd

Well not to pile it on, but Maxi is out tomorrow. Some fans think he is going to fix everything when we'd be lucky if he even comes back this season.
Not only that, but Maxi is overrated the same way DFS was. Just look at how DFS has fallen off with the Nets so far. But we need big man help SO badly that even a hobbled Maxi is desperately needed.
I know these are systems guys, but paying them has inherent risks.

I definitely think Maxi helps us, but that has its limitations. We need insurance but JKidd is a speed-up and has proven that all season.
I don't think he will be right this season. I get a bad feeling that this is going to linger.

Yeah I didn?t want to doom on maxi but whatever shape he?s in after the surgery, it?ll linger and he absolutely won?t be himself. Even if he was, it?s not saving this horrid defense. Idk why fans expect that he alone would. Personally was shocked he was re signed. Last years playoffs were amazing. But I believe that was the beginning of the end for peak Maxi.

Pretty clear to me we're not contenders until we shore up our defense & rebounding. Relying on Maxi coming off a major injury is a fool's errand.
That being said our number one priority by far is resigning Kyrie this offseason. That's 90% of the battle to becoming a true contender. With him in the fold long-term you have three foundational starters/ pieces: Luka, Green, and Kyrie.
This offseason I would do the following if Kyrie resigns:
-let Frank and Morris walk
-resign Powell, Pinson, Holiday, Wright, and Lawson to minimum deals (or let them walk if they don't want to take that)
-continue to shop around McGee, Bertans, THJ... Bertans is essentially an expiring deal and THJ's salary decreases significantly, so I wouldn't attach picks to get rid of them
-try your best to S&T Wood, otherwise let him walk
-hand out the taxpayer MLE to Nerlens Noel, Brook Lopez, etc.
-utilize future picks to upgrade wings
If Kyrie doesn't resign we're f*cked. No other way to say it. Unless he agrees to a S&T that brings in a trove of assets.

What happened with LA. Aldridge would be my 1st choice to get on the team. If not I try to get Hampton signed to min deal thru 23-24 season. Cut Morris. I'd say cut Pinson too but just don't thnk they will.
I'm a Frank N. fan but to bad he build on his 3 point shooting from last year. His defense and 3 point .pct around 35% makes for a nice bench player. This year it has fallen from 34% to 21% this year. I just can't seeing him back unless he does something down the stretch and in playoffs.
I don't understand the handling of Wood but could he be S&T candidate for Miles Bridges if Mavs don't want Wood.

Meh. IMO, people who can't allow people to move on from mistakes and hold grudges are far less moral people than those who f'd up and work hard to reform. How long ago did this happen to Kidd and how many incidents has he had since?
