Might be the highlight of the season. Loved that intensity.

That was a different Luka than last year. Hes not here to let the clippers bully him. Beverly wanted NO PART and quickly walked past luka to argue the foul.

Maxi questionable for game 2. Clippers are going to run everything they got at Luka, so it might be wise to start Brunson to have a second ball handler. Would hurt the starting defense, but the Mavs have to weather the early storm.

Brunson is capable of playing 33+ minutes so I'm not too worried.

Brunson can roll with a mix of first/second unit and be fine.

What he can't do, Burke is more than capable of.

“Our preference is to play bigger when we can,” Carlisle said about what kind of lineup tweaks he might have in store. “It just helps our rebounding and rebounding is such an important part of NBA playoff basketball.

“As we continue to move forward in the series, everything’s on the table. We have to anticipate some things that they’ll do – the possibility that (Rajon) Rondo could start, the possibility that they could start the game small with (Marcus) Morris at five. Or they could continue with Zubac at five. You got to be ready for everything. That’s so much of what playoff basketball is about.”

NBA coaches are involved in a high-stakes chess match between games 1 and 2. They don’t often give away their next moves.

But what the Clippers do with their 7-foot center Zubac is going to be crucial. He is a very good rebounder per minute played, especially on the offensive glass.

But he is not a great defender. That’s why the Mavericks tried to get Dorian Finney-Smith going when Zubac started the game guarding him.

“We figured they were going to put Zubac on either me or Maxi (Kleber),” Finney-Smith said. “So we just wanted to make sure we were ready to shoot whenever guys penetrated.”

Lue is aware of the problem.

“They have a stretch 5 in (Kristaps) Porzingis, a stretch 5 in Kleber, so when the shot goes up,if Zu’s guarding Porzingis on the perimeter, it’s hard for him to go down and rebound the ball,” Lue said. “So they do a good job of spreading you out, there’s going to be long rebounds and those are the ones we got to get to.

The biggest adjustment, however, might be one that doesn’t involve X’s and O’s, but pure forcefulness.

The Clippers have vowed that they were not physical enough to start the game, hence falling behind by 11 points in the first quarter.

Clippers are going to try to come out angry. We can not take the bait and need guys other than Luka to be aggressive penetrating and kicking.

Maxi's presence will be sorely missed if he indeed sits out. I'm going to go out on a limb and say we start Melli who has a similar build to match up with Kawhi.

Maxi just played 36 minutes, and practiced some today. I don’t think he practices at all today if it’s serious enough to miss the game. They use questionable, so that they can either upgrade him to probable closer to the game, or doubtful if he has some sort of setback. No need to call him probable this early, and give away that information.

I would expect the Clippers to play more zone also. That will alleviate to some extent their center chasing KP and Maxi out to the 3 pt line.

If I were the Clippers, I'd roll Cousins and Zubac out in a twin towers lineup. Mavs aren't physical or athletic enough to play against that type of size in the middle.

That's either a really good or a really bad thing.

If Mavs can continue to shoot with confidence, then we could bury them with 130-140 points

If we can't hit threes and have another game shooting sub-30%, then we struggle to score 89.

That's just how we roll.

Even Cuban shrugged when they asked about piracy and the terrible coverage. It's an embarrassment, but I think they have been forced to take a hard look at it for the next contract round.

Any idea when they contract is up? Is this going to potentially be the same issue next season? I remember Cuban basically shrugging it off. Hopefully viewership is way down and owners in the affected markets lost millions.

Post 2011, there are five playoff series not counting this year. I guess he's counting the finals series?

Post 2011, Mavs are 3-2 in G2. Of those five playoff series, all five came after a G1 loss.

Sadly, even Arizonans like me will have it blacked out because of "national coverage" despite my local cable company not offering NBATV.

Thus, I will be pirating it tonight.

If you use a VPN and set the location to somewhere in the UK, you won't be subject to any blackouts on League Pass.

Sucks we have to jump over these hurdles, but that's what I've been doing all season for nationally broadcast games.

Alternatively, those of you without League Pass/ a VPN can use THIS LINK to get a stream. You will need to X out of 4-5 popups, but after that the stream is relatively stable/safe.
