George and Diop should be playing more. George should take some of Stack's and Jones's minutes. (That will keep Stack fresh anyway.) And Diop should get at least 10 minutes a night. (I realize that there are some nights when Dirk/Bass need some floor. But there is no excuse for Diop to have a DNP-CD by his name.)

I think George has a tendency to get complacent or something. Remember his first half season here? He was gangbusters great. Then he's been mediocre at best till very recently. Play him too much and he'll lose his edge. This is what Lakers fans complained about. He was always occasionally just what they needed, but couldn't be counted on come playoff time.

That is because he injured his knee in Milwaukee last year and was never the same player after that. He seems to be like the player before that injury.
And as long as he is healthy... he needs minutes. He can defend 3 positions: SG/SF/PF.... and that is extremely effective. No other Mav can do that. He is inconsistent with his shot. But who on the Mavs isn't? Stack is hot/cold. So is Jones. So is Terry.

Since someone asked, Stack is alright, Avery just easing him in. Stack actually had a couple of nice plays in the 2nd. A good dunk in traffic, and a wrap around no look pass to Diop for a Dunk. It was evident in those 10 minutes that the man has real talent for this game.

It was more than the injury. He was not great when he came back, and he's been mediocre this year. I think Stack and Terry have earned Avery's love because they play with a lot of desire. Consistency with the effort seems more important to Avery than consistency with the shot. The jury's still out with Jones. Maybe George will get it going. He's definitely got what the team needs when he's on, but again. He's got a history of dissapearing.

^I agree that if George plays conistently like this, meaning hitting the open shots, providing the good defense and rebounding which he can, the Mavs don't have to lose any piece in a trade.
But again, we looked great tonight against the Grizzlies. I would like to see how we do against the Suns on the road next week before the break. That should be a big test for Avery and his continuing experimentation.

I've never seen devean dog it imo. when he's been healthy he's been good. He really does give us a much better rebounder out there than eddie does. Much stronger, great hands and quick hands.
I like him out there a lot.

I hope I can find a photo of the play where dirk was at the top of the key with the ball with a very, very short person on him. He sort of looked down at them like he was a gnat, took a dribble and then drilled one over him.

Was it the one in which he spun to the right? If so, that was Kyle Lowry. Lowry went for the steal, and Dirk Dirk turned and shot it.

Sounds like it. My buddy and I just laughed out loud. It was like dirk was looking at a gnat that he was just going to swat.

Actually, it seems that Stack re-tweaked his hammy. No timetable set for his return:

I would just let him sit until after the all-start break, at the earliest. That's nearly two weeks.
