FWIW, DLord is either doing a bit or is absolutely, positively convinced that Deron is coming to Dallas.
Not that he has any additional info, just the way he's reading things.

I normally really, really like him, but I've written off his tweets the past couple days as 100% bit/homerism. There's no way anybody could be that confident.

Sounds like a sign-and-trade for Ersan is the death knell for Howard-to-Brooklyn (talk)?

I do read this as positive news though. Ersan is set to make 6-7 million per?
Could be they're splitting what would have gone to Deron between 2 players

Remember, they're not using cap space at this point. They don't have to split anything. They'd have to SnT someone for Ersan; Hump I assume.

Yeah, Humphries is the rumor, and it sounds likely...

How many "death knells" to the Nets-Magic trade have we seen already? This thing is crazy.

That's why I included "(talk)" - this rumor was dead the moment they traded the #6 draft pick for Gerald Wallace...

I'd like to know why the Magic are even still discussing it with them. I guess to leverage other teams, but it seems like an absolute waste of time. Everybody knows the Nets' offer. It ain't changing.

Ersan is a 8M+ player to me.
Ersan, Batum and Dragic were my budding star free agent targets. I would be happy to build a whole team around them (assuming they stayed at or under the 10M/yr mark collectively).

The Nets are either the new Isiah Thomas Knicks or the New York Yankees.

If the Lakers get cold feet, I'm starting to get concerned that the Nets are going to slowly finagle a way into getting Dwight and meeting their hard cap (by the slimmest of margins).
I guess that's the pessimist in me, jthig style, since there are so many reasons why that deal can't happen.

Yeah, this is the kind of stuff I'm thinking now. It seems really unlikely (hell, Teletovic is repped by Schwartz...), but you never know.
I honestly think the Magic would be monumentally stupid to trade Dwight to Brooklyn right now. That offer will be there in months. They can wait.

They won't. They can trade him wherever they get the best deal.
Its not like Dwight's gonna sit out an entire year and forfeit a years salary.
He really has no choice about where he plays next season.

Wouldn't that be kind of unprecedented? I know contracts get voided due to health concerns and things like that, but wouldn't doing something like making a handshake agreement with a free agent and then taking it back greatly hurt a team's chances of signing other quality guys in the future?
Has that ever been done before?

I am wondering if the Nets are saying this to Deron, "We are signing a bunch of pretty good to very good players that we believe will be trading pieces for Dwight sometime before the trade deadline next season. You've gotta have faith that some combination of these contracts will eventually equal Dwight Howard". Then its up to DWill to decide if they can pull it off.

You know what I haven't heard around these parts in a while: the idea that Schwartz needed to do Dallas a solid for the Odom saga...

Oh I bet he won't say anything tonight. Just another "wasted" day in free agency. But we know now that Landry Fields is headed to Toronto and Nash aint going to NY.

Big shock on that one. The puss didn't want a coach to get on to him and he didn't want to play 82. He wanted to leave the NBA last summer before he got traded to the Mavs.
