Best wishes to Brandan. He was one of my favorite players. I absolutely love the guy's motor. I wish I had one like that. LOL

I loved what this guy brought. His scoring helped us win a lot of games.

He improved so much that I doubt we would have been able to afford his next contract..I expect he'll easily command 8 million or more. He was not that great against the well coached, good teams in the West. But now that he's in the East, he will look even better than he did here. If Rondo helps Dirk win another ring, maybe Brandon should get one too. His hard work at getting better helped us win the Rondo Lotto.

Thanks for everything, big guy.

Looks like Wright is back on the trading block:

http://www.csnwashington.com/basketb...on-birch-focus

Is there a way we can still sign him? Or are there rules preventing us from doing so?

I posted this in the Backup Center thread as well... I figure the Mavs would really love to have him back to improve our bench situation that was discussed in the other thread.

He can't be bundled for a little while, but he can come back via a trade by himself. I don't know why they'd trade him back to us when they could have just had more in the trade, but it is possible, although very unlikely.

If Boston waives him or trades him to a team who waives him, we cannot pick him up until December 14th, 2015 or the offseason whichever comes first AKA this free agency.

In other words-- we can pick him up in free agency pretty easily if we want to, but this season is VERY unlikely.

Thanks for the in depth explanation Erica.

I'm sure Boston fans are thrilled that one of the three pieces that were traded for Rondo is in Phoenix, one is gone (Nelson) and the other, while getting minutes (Crowder) is nothing near what they gave up.

I thought he would be pretty much useless away from the Mavs, but he is custom designed for the Suns. IT2 + The Helicopter = Dunk.

Good teams in the West had little trouble grounding the helicopter. If we can't, we are not a good team.

I wonder if Wright makes his way back here in the offseason. The Suns did not seem to be a match for his skill set like the Mavs were

If it comes down to signing either Wright or Aminu I'd rather have Aminu.
I'd rather address backup center via trade (Felton, pick, etc....).

What?

Are Amare's efficient 12pts 6reb in 21mpg not a good replacement for Wright's 9-4 in 19mpg or are you still on about how we were winning a lot of games in the easiest stretch of games this team has ever played?

As you know, stats aren't everything. Wright was longer and more athletic. Good 2 way player. Amare only does offense. I think Amare would be a better fit with a shot blocking center beside him.

What?

Let's not revise history here. Wright was an offense-only PF who played C for us because he couldn't shoot from more than 3-4'. He was awful at rebounding from the center position and below average for even the PF spot as his rebound rate as well as the team rebounding percentage with him in the lineup would show. He really needed to play next to a true center who could rebound and defend, because Wright couldn't defend or rebound. His weaknesses were that large.

The only refutation you could have for that is to point to the scoreboard, but we had the easiest stretch of games in recent history and Wright failed to show up against good teams.

Wright
Chicago - 5-4
Houston - 7-6
Portland 3-3 on 39%
Atlanta 6-5
OKC 5-2

Amare
Chicago 14-7 on 55%
Houston 10-7 on 60%
Portland 14-5 on 57%
Atlanta 9-10 on 50%
OKC 16-6

The whole issue can be best illustrated with the microcosm of early games. Against a full Portland team? he dropped a 6-3 goosegg. Against Chicago in double OT-- basically our first win against a competitive team at full health? 4-4 in 23 and Gasol went for 29-14

Don't get me wrong, I'd welcome Wright back with open arms and he's one of my favorite people and players, but your entire point is based on liking how we played against terrible opposition. We have no backup center? You pine for the good old days when we had a productive backup center in Wright? Please. Amare has at least matched Wright's performance.

Wright was not a 2 way player. He was overpowered by just about everyone he matched up against on the defensive end.

Wright was good at contesting shots. Maybe he wasn't great as a man on man defender. But I'll take his help defense over Amare's any day. Amare is about as bad of a defender as you can get at the Center position. Wright got a lot of attention without getting the ball many times. Which opened things up for Harris on the pick and roll.

Stats just don't support your point so you keep withdrawing from your assertions without ever admitting any fault or admitting that you were using hyperbole.

But he was our backup when we beat the Sixers by 50 points back in November!

If mavsfan1000 said that he'd rather watch Wright's spectacular lob dunks versus this playoff dribble, then he might actually be onto something.

At this point, I'm willing to read any irrational response to this year's team. The wheels have fallen off. Things can turn around quickly in the NBA, but I'm just not seeing it with this team.
