What I expect to happen is for the sk*rts to try and confuse devin as much as possible. I'm not exactly sure how they will do that, but the best scenario for them is to get AJ to pull him because he's turning it over.
I would expect to see some sort of strange coverages. I could also see some zones just to force dallas to hit some open shots and stay out of the lanes a little bit.

there it is....I was wondering how long it would take to reach this comment. Two images from game 2 stood out in my mind....
The first was Manu writhing on the floor in pain after being fouled by Diop on a drive to the hoop. The second was Manu receiving medical attention after using his mouth to foul Harris's elbow on a drive to the hoop.
The first image is a classic example of how to administer the hard foul as a means of protecting the rim. The second image was just funny, and a classic example of how not to protect the rim.
As long as the Spurs play Big Shot Bob and Duncan inside, they're either gonna give up easy baskets or they're gonna git Duncan in foul trouble.
Cheers

Well you sure can't say that the mavs are soft in comparison if rebounding and blocked shots are what you use for the criteria.
Mavs 39/10, Spurs 34/6 rebounding in first (total, offensive)
47/13, 40/11 rebounding in second.
Blocked shots 10-9 mavs.

Honestly I always thought the Spurs were soft. Hasn't that been the perception by the NBA? They have guys who take a lot of beatings but I don't consider taking a beating meaning you're not soft. Bruce Bowen may be the only guy who doesn't deserve that title on the Spurs.

I don't think there was any question -- in game 2, the Spurs were the soft team and the Mavs were (odd as it sounds) the physical team.
The only player for the Spurs that didn't look like a big softie was Timmy, and he can't risk committing fouls because he's been the only offensive option.

No I don't think that the spurs have been thought of as soft except probably since robinson left. They've almost always had duncan and an extra shotblocker. They've been having as hard of a time getting a workable center as the mavs have since robinson left.

Wasn't Robinson the one that was considered soft?

Robinson was always considered a little soft, especially after he got abused by Hakeem in his MVP year. I think the Duncan/Robinson Spurs were considered soft when they were getting consistently beaten by the Lakers.

Didn't Robinson averaged 12 rebounds and nearly 4 blocks a game in his rookier year?
Doesn't sound too soft... Hackim got the best of him because he was that much versatile, Robinson isn't equiped to handle him,i doub't anyone was.
The Spurs are soft because their bitches, one by one.. they cry and complaine so much, they sure don't act like the champions.
I'm hoping that all their bitching and their fans calling that javi stuff, and of course are wonderfull AAC,would get the refs to understand what the spurs are about and stop giving them that much respect,at least Duncan.
I think, and hope,we'll see a different game from the refs today.

The mavs have always been considered softer than the Spurs. The spurs were soft pre 99 yes, absolutely. and even then, some players on the spurs need to nut up and stop acting like bitches. I love TD as a spurs fan but he needs to learn to just take the shot and not flail his arms around everywhere looking to draw non existing contact. And the spurs dont whine as much as any other team. game 2 was horribly reffed for BOTH sides but everyone on the spurs and coaching staff acknowledged that it was the Mavs who beat the Spurs, not the reffs. I mean once again, you guy shave MARK CUBAN, there is no bigger baby in sports history than him. ask anyone
I think you guys are making WAY too big of a deal of this "spurs whining" bs cuz granted we played like pussies in game 2, and I'm not saying we never whine, I just don't think we complain more than any other team. And the officiating WAS terrible in game 2, even the mavericks were not happy with some of the calls, and understandably so. I mean a combined 80 (!) free throws or so were shot in game 2, and that's hardly normal
anyways, you guys have a solid board over here and I wanted to wish you the best of luck in game 3! AAC is a tough place to play in

I think that too much is being made of the spurts whining because they are! The fans, the media, the players are really out of sorts after game 2. Of course getting getting spanked on the home court will bring out lost of excuses. To pops credit he won't accept them and he'll have to get that through the spurs heads. He probably will.
The joing WILL be a' rocking tonight!
