Can the Mavs just hurry up and get Dalembert and AK-47 and call it a team already? I'm ready to get this season going!

Dalembert | Wood | Mahimi
Dirk | AK-47 | Wright
Odom | Marion
VC | Jet
Kidd | West | Roddy

I am one of the biggest fans of this front office and have been for a while that doesn't mean they can't be criticized when they do make that rare mistake, as for Fernandez I am happy he is not with this team anymore.

If the Mavs amnesty either Marion or Haywood next season and let the player options roll off, they'll have a ridiculous amount of cap space.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, never said that.
Had an initial WTF moment, but I'm seeing the reasoning. In times past, I just can't see Cuban trying to save 3MM by giving potential decent role players away -- overcrowded roster or not. Times have changed I guess.

Don't worry, that wasn't you.
And I know what you mean. 3MM seems so inconsequential in his world, but like you said, we're in a different system now.

Did you see the Mavs landing Lamar Odom and Vince Carter this offseason? Things can change quickly in this league. The Mavs are doing their best to not only create a roster that can compete this season, but open up an amazing amount of flexibility going into the future.
What they've accomplished this offseason is pretty darn awesome.

Dalembert isn't coming here but he would start.

It's not my place to tell a guy how to make a living, but DSteve should at least consider a one-year deal here.

Yea, just like VC and West were clamoring to take the vet min. And cmon now, if Dalembert and AK-47 did happen to land w/ the Mavs, you know that they would get significant PT cuz the front court is thin as ef!

VC didn't take the vet min....
The front court is "thin"? The one with Dirk Nowitzki, Lamar Odom, Shawn Marion, Brendan Haywood, and Brandan Wright? That's "thin"? What does a deep frontcourt look like?

1) VC took didn't take the vet min. He got the tax-payer MLE.
2) The frontcourt rotation is stacked. And the forward rotation in particular is frickin' spillin' out stacked. Don't get me wrong, I like AK. But unless you're trading Marion Dallas makes no sense as a destination for him.

I can't rep you (or thig, BG, UD, etc.) as much as I'd like, either (can't right now, for example). Apparently I have to spread it around more, but with all the belly-aching that followed the early post-lockout news on Tyson I've been finding that difficult.

So we traded a first round pick, Rudy Fernandez, and Corey Brewer for a future second round pick?

A 2016 2nd rounder to be exact.

And we got under the luxury tax threshold (which holds much steeper penalties under the new CBA) - that was the primary purpose of the trade.
Cap casualties...

Neither of those two were going to get significant playing time. We are rolling with what we have and saving for next year.

We're actually not sure about this. If you have to actually be under 70, then the Mavs are still LT. If you have to be under 74, then they might be JUST under it.
By my math, the Mavs are at just over 74Mil for actual payroll, and just over 73Mil for LT calculations.

I'd really like to see us pick up a legitimate backup C that's able to step in as a starter from time to time... Przybilla would be great if he's healthy, but other than him I'm not sure who's out there.
