probably one of my favorite maverick victories and dirk 4th quarters of all time.
it's gonna be a tough series. kidd won't score 24ppg. other people will need to step up on offense. i'm looking at you, chandler and marion

Alright, it's morning here (sunrise over one hour ago ), but I don`t regret a damn of watching this game. Dirk finally got respect from the refs in the 4th quarter. Maybe some calls were ticky-tacky calls, but IMO those were only the compensation for all those missed calls in the first 3 quarters. With correct calls Dirk should have been at the line at least 6 times after the 3rd quarter.

Damn if Dirk and Kidd did not put up the numbers of superstars. Some of the play of the defensive end of the boards had me scared in the fourth until Kidd came back in.

Big win, Game 2 will be difficult too. Hopefully Kidd can play nearly as good as tonight.

It's the playoffs, all games are going to be difficult. The Magic lost, the Heat had to hold off the pitiful 76ers, the Bulls had to come back and avoid an upset against the lowly Pacers. Every game is a battle.... and we won ours. Let's win the war now.

Dirk will be sharper, JET will get going, if Kidd keeps going like he is that fine but he won't have to do it every game.

Kidd was amazing. I don't know if I've EVER seen him shoot, let alone hit, an off the dribble two point jumper like he did in the 3rd.
Dirk was amazing in the 4th, and I liked how he called for a backdoor cut twice since LA was overplaying him. His defense and rebounding were great all night. But look, his drives in the 4th were JUST as aggressive as his drives in quarters 1-3. It makes no sense. I mean he was shafted on some terrible, terrible, terrible calls. Then in the 4th he got calls he should have got all night. Just makes no sense.
Marion played great D.
Tyson/Wood were solid. I'd like to see Tyson not let LA catch it so low on the block.
I liked Peja in the 1st half, but he played like a bitch in the 2nd, and RC probably should have hooked him earlier in the 4th.
Terry was solid. He didn't force anything. Portland is a bad matchup for him. He's undersized and struggles to get open looks.
DeShawn played solid. I'd like to see some Brewer though.
JJB was nothing short of garbage and he nearly cost us the game...which to me is on....
RICK CARLISE. If we lost, more than anything else it would have been on him. There was absolutely NO excuse or justification to playing JJB 19 minutes (told you he would get 15-20) 6 straight in the 4th. NONE. That's when Portland went up by 6. It was unreal. He waited too long to put Kidd back in, and WAY too long to put Marion back in. I was astonished after he put Kidd in and kept JJB in (with Kidd and Terry). That is BAD coaching and it WILL cost us a game if he does it again.

Bane, at this point you should KNOW he's going to do it again. He always does this, and people always defend him. Tonight was a perfect example of why I'm frustrated with some of his substitutions/rotations. Hey, at least we got the win though.

Because Kidd and Dirk stepped up. Otherwise, we would have lost. RC sucked big time IMO.

i agree with all this, except i don't put as much weight on the JJ thing.
i definitely would have played him less and played brewer more--not in exchange for each other necessarily. RC's rotations were getting me irritated

Kidd was 6-10 from beyond the arc - a personal playoff record.

I don't even know how Jason was getting down the floor - I mean...he definitely has to have the biggest gonads of all time - those things got to be weighing him down.

So how many of those minutes jkiddo was not on the floor allowed him to make his shots? Jib has to be better, but he also has to play because jet cannot play point and we know roddy cannot either.

JET was fine defensively tonight (amazed that I'm saying that). Barea wasn't, and his offense wasn't much better. But you're right -- he has to play when Kidd needs a breather. Rick is dead to me for playing all 3 at once. He thankfully woke up in time to salvage the win by reinserting Marion.

Was Roddy out or was it a DNP-Coaches decision?

Man, RC's substitutions and Dirk not being able to get a FT early on enraged me. But at the end we got the win, the Blazers kept waiting for us to beat ourselves but what they don't understand is that we won't. We just have to be the aggressor and keep attacking them. Somehow with all the doubting by the media I feel like we're the lower seeded team. The thing is neither the Media or the Refs can save the Blazers.
