DSJ is training with Steph Curry's trainer, Brandon Payne.

Damn I'm excited to see him next year. I really expect him to be one of those players that brings something new to his game every year and improves throughout his career. That's the difference between regular players that stay in the NBA on athleticism and the ones that become real stars in the league.
I can see Doncic and DSJ bringing out the best in each other in the next several seasons which is going to be a blast to watch them develop.

I hope so.
After summer league where he looked terrible and looked to have a poor attitude, I was worried.
Then he got dropped from the Africa game.
I was really worried that he had athleticism, but didn't have the grit and drive to be a smarter player with a jumper. Sounds like he's at least working to be better and that's exciting.

This is an amazing read, makes me really excited about Dennis this season...
Brandon Payne of Accelerate Basketball talks his journey, training Steph Curry, and working with Dennis Smith Jr. this summer
https://www.dallassportsfanatic.com/...r-this-summer/
Quote:
"It’s really hard to say ‘hey in the offseason, we want to do this and this only’. It’s kind of a holistic approach to player development. We talk about everything from nutrition, to sleep, how you’re preparing to workout, your heart rate during a workout, how we cool down after workouts. Like right now, he’s upstairs in our facility. He just finished cryotherapy and is going into a one hour float to unlock his body. Really, it’s not just one thing. We want to work on becoming a better pro. We want to be a pro about everything we do, every day. Pro about how we wake up, pro about how we eat, pro about how we workout, and a pro about how we sleep. Just really learning how to work and be a pro to take the next step."

Wonder if he was training during summer league and was worn down. He definitely didn't take a single minute of sl seriously...which I really can't blame him.

Nothing has been released. They just had him on the roster and then he wasn't on the final roster and didn't play the game.
Dunno if he was just cut, was kicked off, or if he just decided that he wanted to continue to be at home and train.
Total mystery.

IMO, this is extremely underrated by many younger players. It's something that can be taught over time but there are a small percentage of young players smart enough to get it.
You see it all the time where guys lunge into layups on the run trying to reach beyond the defender especially on bigs and then end up on the floor with a no call as the ball is racing the other way. You also see poorly timed jumps and bad footwork trying to avoid Bigs even with momentum toward the paint. Not only is it a missed opportunity for and1 or FT attempts, but there's more of a chance to fall wrong and get injured.

I wish I remembered where I saw it, but saw where he wasn't able to make the trip, something broad. Nothing negative.

I saw that too on the SB Nation site that was breaking down the game.
I was trying to find Barnes stat line but can't.

14pts, 11reb. 43% from three, but fairly unimpressive from 2.

I'd like to see 82, at least. Then add another per game as we sweep every team in the playoffs.

RC said Dennis had a great summer: apparently he's the quickest PG Rick has ever seen, he improved his jumper significantly, he's feeling healthy, and most importantly, DSJ is landing on both feet after dunks now.

@espn_macmahon: Dennis Smith Jr. “I’m not doing the dunk contest this year.” He adds that “the gimmicks and everything that go with it, I’m not with it.”
