Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine
The Warriors and Mavericks are in the advanced stages of a trade that will send Andrew Bogut into Dallas' cap space, league sources say

@WojVerticalNBA
Let me be clearer: Golden State and Dallas nearing terms on a trade to send Bogut to the Mavericks. I'll shake out the cobwebs here yet.
@WojVerticalNBA
Sources: Dallas working on renouncing contracts to absorb Bogut in trade, try to sign Harrison Barnes as UFA free agent, and re-sign Dirk.

Well at least looks like we're going to have a team next year. That's progress although I still don't get why we should care about the season at all.

Tim Cato said no chance it happens and we'd most likely send a 2nd

Oh c'mon. How big can the market for Bogut be that we actually have to add something... But of course we send away picks in a meaningless trade on the long run. That's so Mavs.

Yuck. Bogut is done. And a 1st from GS is not that desirable. Will be last in the 1st round and a guaranteed contract. And we likely wont even receive a 1st. They are really going to roll out another over the hill gang again this season. This is being "opportunistic". More like table scraps. Cuban sucks.

Starve a Mavs fan for a couple days and they'll tell you that table scraps are just as good as steak... Idiots.

Done? Dude played 70 games last reason. Him missing the finals was the reason Tristan Thompson went nuts on the boards.

I honestly am mixed on this. At least Mavs have nothing to lose here. It is a rare day when Bogut is healthy, as much can be said for D-Will. In the best scenario they end up warming the bench and Mavs have a legitimate chance on top-5 pick. Worst case, actually chasing 8th seed.
That being said, if Barnes is signed, then Mavs come out with a better team than things seemed 24 hours ago. I wonder who's going to start at center though? I know, already cutting Bogut out of it.
For the record, I do not consider Bogut to be bad or done.

We're better than we were 24 hours ago, but not better than we were a couple months ago... This team is still backsliding.

Today perhaps. But in 2 years? I think Barnes is a net win all things considered. If we end up getting him*

In 2 years Dirk will be retired and we'll be much, much, MUCH worse. Barnes isn't changing that.

That's a low bar to have. This offseason should've been about rebuilding or contending and none of these moves do that. I'm so confused about the Bogut trade. All it does is help GS out. Unless it helps us snag Barnes I don't understand. Bogut is a decent big but you could get his value for far cheaper.

I don't want to mis-represent. Bogus is an excellent player. The only reason he lasted 70 is they managed the hell out of his minutes. And he played on a young deep and historically great team. I think they win the championship with a healthy Bogut. But the guy just can't seem to stay healthy. And here we are again are gunning for the 8th seed if we're lucky. I'm sorry its just kind of pathetic. This is a proud championship franchise run into the ground. And Dirk last 5-6 years wasted by eternal smartest frat boy in the room Cuban.

Sounds like GSW are relinquishing the rights to Barnes, making him an unrestricted free agent, who Dallas just got a viral agreement from... So, yeah, it looks like the Warriors are are returning the favor for us taking those guys off their hands.

I've known Cuban doesn't really know what he's doing since the day Steve Nash left, but I do not get why all of Mark's biggest fans have all of a sudden turned on him over Chandler Parsons. Throw away a championship team? Brilliant! Lose Chandler Parsons? Sky has fallen!

So, does Satnam have a brother we can nab with that pick or what?

2011 bought Cuban a lot of goodwill, but that was a long time ago now...
All 62 of Dirk Nowitzki's teammates since 2011, ranked

This is a no lose situation, he's in the last year of his contract. I like the deal. Former #1 overall pick. (which I realize means nothing)

This is definitely an outcome the Mavericks spent a day thinking about in the last 2 months.
Just stumbling along..

I am not sure why all the negative reactions on Bogut. Health has always been his problem but he's a very good center. He is on the last year of his contract getting 11 m and then we can move on. Just remember who the lakers just signed for 17 million per year. Come on people.
Williams
Matthews
Barnes
Dirk
Bogut/ Mejri

Seems on twitter everyone's mad at us for helping Durant to GS happen, as if nobody would take Bogut making 12 million in the final year of his contract.
I guess Cuban finally made a superteam after all, just in Golden State.

Well since you asked... he has a brother named Beant Singh but when I looked the name up all I came up with was-
Quote:
Beant Singh may refer to:
Beant Singh (assassin) (1959–1984), who assassinated Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi
Beant Singh (chief minister) (1922–1995), assassinated Chief Minister of the Punjab
|
Shot in the dark.... I'm 70% certain this isn't the same guy.

Even Fish seems to be a critic these days. It would be kind of fun, if it weren't.

You will only get about 20 mins per game max from Bogut, but he will rebound and provide some semblance of interior defense while he is on the court. He might also be able to serve as a mentor to Salah. This is certainly not going to make the Mavs a contender, but at least it shows they are trying to put a competitive team on the court. I think the MBT have succeeded in reaching the lowest acceptable bar, but it looks to me like next season will be similar to the last couple. They will compete for the 8th seed and likely lose in the first round.

Yep Cuban should win GM of the year for taking Boguts contract for GS and giving them cap room to sign KD. It just delays rebuilding for another year with no future to speak of. I guess they want to miss out on big free agents next summer as well.

Bogut was the Warriors' #2 defensive guy. Only guy who impacted defense more was Green.
Dude is basically a better Mejri. Decent rebounding, raw (but efficient) offense, strong defensive impact.
