DANVILLE, Ill. -- The father of Sacramento Kings player Keon Clark is being held on a first-degree murder charge in the shooting death of an acquaintance.
John Earl Clark was jailed without bond Thursday in Illinois.
Police in Danville, Illinois say John Earl Clark had a confrontation with Clarence Cunningham that led to a shooting outside an apartment complex early Wednesday.
Officers arrived to find Cunningham lying in the street, dead of multiple gunshot wounds.
Police say the elder Clark called them to the scene.
Troy Hanson, director of Kings media relations, says the team had not discussed the matter with Keon Clark and has no comment.
Clark is being held at the Vermilion County jail. A preliminary hearing is set for July 31st.
