Default A not so bad trade

Dallas trades: PF Danny Fortson (3.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 13.1 minutes)
PG Jiri Welsch (1.6 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 0.7 apg in 6.3 minutes)
SF Chris Mills (4.8 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.1 apg in 12.5 minutes)

Dallas receives: SF Toni Kukoc (11.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 3.6 apg in 27.1 minutes)
PF Anthony Mason (7.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 3.2 apg in 32.6 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +8.9 ppg, +3.1 rpg, and +4.3 apg.

Milwaukee trades: SF Toni Kukoc (11.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 3.6 apg in 27.1 minutes)
PF Anthony Mason (7.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 3.2 apg in 32.6 minutes)

Milwaukee receives: PF Danny Fortson (3.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 17 games)
PG Jiri Welsch (1.6 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 0.7 apg in 37 games)
SF Chris Mills (4.8 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.1 apg in 21 games)
Change in team outlook: -8.9 ppg, -3.1 rpg, and -4.3 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

Milwaukee does this to dump Mason and Kukoc's contracts, plus they get an expiring contract in Chris Mills. If this were to happen, the Mavs would walk away with two steals.

Lineup:

Nash/Daniels
Finley/Howard
Jamison/Kukoc/Najera
Dirk/Mason/Najera
Bradley/Raef

I like Kukoc, but I'd sooner saw off my left foot than watch Anthony Mason in a Mavericks uniform.

I'll pass.

Kukoc would be the worst defensive player on the team, and that is saying something.

Mason is a much older version of Fortson.

No thanks.

Here's something that may be more pleasing for you Kg:

Dallas trades: SF Chris Mills (4.8 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.1 apg in 12.5 minutes)
PG Jiri Welsch (1.6 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 0.7 apg in 6.3 minutes)

Dallas receives: SF Toni Kukoc (11.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 3.6 apg in 27.1 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +5.2 ppg, +1.0 rpg, and +1.8 apg.

Milwaukee trades: SF Toni Kukoc (11.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 3.6 apg in 27.1 minutes)

Milwaukee receives: SF Chris Mills (4.8 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.1 apg in 21 games)
PG Jiri Welsch (1.6 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 0.7 apg in 37 games)
Change in team outlook: -5.2 ppg, -1.0 rpg, and -1.8 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

I'll pass as well. Kukoc and Mason are past their primes. I'd rather take our chances with Mills and Fortson.

Honestly, not really. Welsch has potential to contribute a lot in the backcourt.

How many minutes could Kukoc possibly give us?

Nowitzki and Jamison will eat up all but about 20 minutes at the forward positions. The remainder of those minutes would go to a number of players before they went to Kukoc.

On the other hand, there will be minutes available for Welsch to develop.

I just think this would be a trade to make a trade. Kukoc doesn't help.

Default RE: A not so bad trade

IMO Atlanta looks like the only viable partner for a 3 way.

1) either Mills for Mohammed
or 2) Mills and Najera for Ratliff.

and on #1 dallas might have to add a pick to land mohammed for just mills.
on #2 bradley could be used as well, if thats what atlanta would prefer

BUT looking around, other than the Warriors, atlanta seems to be the only team with 2 decent centers, and that might be willing to part with one for some cap relief.

Mills and Najera for Ratliff makes a lot of sense.

I'm not giving up Welsch for Kukoc. I can't fathom why anyone would want to? And I think Chris Mills can get us something a little more attractive.
