04 draft choice question
I have a question about the first round choice sent to Boston in the Walker deal: Was this an unconditional choice? If not, what are the conditions on this pick?
Thanks very much!

RE:04 draft choice question
I know that it was lottery protected. Not sure beyond that, though.

RE:04 draft choice question
Thanks. I did get clarification from another source on this. The pick is indeed lottery protected forever, meaning it will doubtless be used in the 2004 draft.
I'm a Celts fan, and wish the Mavs well. You've got a fun team to watch, and a talented one at that. However, seeing the details on the pick, I now wish for the following scenario: The Mavs somehow end up 8th in the west, and sweep the Lakers in the first round. ;-)
I hope the Antoine trade works out well for Dallas. However, I am deleriously happy not to have to watch him anymore. You guys have just begun to discuss Mr. Walker. I think you may find he will become a hotbed of controversy for you before long.
Best of luck on your season, and thanks again for the help!

That sounds like a permanent goodbye....
We have a nice community here with fans of alot of other teams besides the Mavericks. You should continue posting here. Don't go the way of the troll....

He's already well on his way to surpassing Bradley as our biggest lightning rod player. He's really good at some things and really bad at others, much like Shawn.

You have no idea... It's going to get much much worse. Mr. Walker's enigmatic game has polarized Celtic followers for years. There is nothing remotely like it in the long franchise history. Personally, I have watched the C's since the Russell years, and have never thought ill of a Celtic player... ...until #8. His shot selection and positioning can be maddening. Wait until he strings a bunch of his bad shooting games in a row.
Dallas has markedly superior talent to Boston at this time, so Antoine's game may be favorably influenced. But beware. I hope this doesn't happen, but he could just destroy the beautiful Maverick chemistry as the season wears on. At least Don (who I saw play many fine games with the super fast Heinsohn Celtics teams of the 70s) has enough talent to sit Antoine down when he turns sour.
I'm soooo glad he's gone.

RE:04 draft choice question
Minkbarn, just because the naysayers and kneejerkers on this site often speak with loud voices doesn't mean they're right, or in the majority. I was never a big Walker fan when he played in Boston, but he's a Maverick now, and I see no reason not to give him the benefit of the doubt until he shows he doesn't deserve it. Thus far, for whatever my opinion is worth, he has absolutely deserved it. He's playing hard, playing as well as could be expected, earning good reviews from the coaching staff, and playing a team game. Time will tell whether the Walker experiment will be a success, or just a prelude to another trade, but for now I'm glad he's gone from Boston, too.
