I think Houston's entire reason for existence in the league is to embarass us. They thoroughly kick our ass, then immediately proceed to be dismantled by every crappy team in the league.

They beat us with Francis--and lost to the Bulls without him. With him, they are a legitimate playoff contender; without him (and especially with Mobley hurting too) they are going to be down with the Bulls and Wizards all year.

Even with a now-healthy Mobley, the Rockets lose to the Wiz. Man they're like the village bicycle, only the Mavs aren't allowed a ride. You're right though..with a healthy Francis, they're a playoff team. But even without him, I think they're better than the Grizz, Bulls, and Wiz.

You can think that DJ, but so far the record says otherwise :-)

Seriously, Houston may have the weakest middle in the league. They spent the off-season planning on having an aging Hakeem and Mo Taylor--not great, but definitely servicable. But then they lost both and managed to replace them with spares.

With Francis, they balance that by having one of the best backcourts in the league. But with Francis out they lose the best part of that backcourt--and the impact of the loss is increased by the fact that its the point guard.

With Francis out, Houston basically has one legit NBA starter.
