The Mavericks are currently 23rd in the NBA in blocked shots. Take away Shawn Bradley's contribution in his and they are 27th.

How big of a problem is this? An intimidating shotblocker does more than just block shots. He alters the game, forces more passes and more bad shots. Opponents shoot at a lower percentage and turn the ball over more when a big shotblocker is in the game. I'm not saying that the Mavericks need to play Shawn Bradley, although I fully beleive that they would be a much better defensive team if they did. But it is imperitive that they play someone who can deter people from parading to the hoop. I'm tired of the seeing 6'7" Mexicans and overwight blobs hack and foul and scrap around while the other team's guards are performing layups drills on us. It may look like these guys are playing good defense but they do almost nothing to really help us become a better defensive team. With either one of these guys on the court, we have no interior intimidation, no size, no way to keep people from dunking on our heads. We either need to play the one shotblocker we have or aquire another one. Until we do, teams like the Nuggets, who can't shoot their way out of a paper bag, will continue to drop 120 on us.

Who other than Bradley do we have that is a true shot blocker? Dirk is doing fairly decent this year, but if he's the primary shot blocker he tends to get in foul trouble. So this means that we have to trade for a shot blocker because no way Nellie will give Bradley regular minutes.

He is flying. He doesn't block shots though, at least he's nowhere to be seen in the ranks for shot blocking. Can we start saying we miss lafrentz? [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

nope... just because he blocks one or two shots...at this point i´d prefer walker instead of two raefs

Maybe but Raef for the right price is certainly better then just bradley and fortson.

The problem is, Raef won't be available at the right price for six more years. He'll never play up to his current contract.
