Defensive players
Why don't we trade for 2 or 3 true defensive players? Maybe we can rotate them in one or two at a time so we can GET SOME STOPS! Our offense seems to be doing ok, but where is the defense? Why does everyone else have career offensive nights against us? Or maybe we need to slow the game down by running plays. I can't quite put a finger on why we are sucking so bad; we are becoming the new Portland without the bad attitudes.

RE: Defensive players
We´re not at all doing okay on offense.
And as long we´re playing lackluster ball on both ends of the floor getting in one Defender won´t help much.

I'd like to see things from your point of view but I can't seem to get my head that far up my ass.

Just joking Captain... it would be nice to see a little more individual defense.... even better to see some decent team defense. But I don't think the answer is to trade for 2-3 or three defensive specialists & play East Coast Basketball... Some situational stops & consistent offensive pressure would suit me just fine... RE:Defensive players
So we've added howard to the starting lineup and gone on about a 2-5 record or some whacky thing like that. This is not football. If defense were all there were to this game miami would have won many championships..
You have to have both, right now we have both going wacky.

RE: Defensive players
Now it isn't anymore about defense or offense. Not even about the Center.
Try the next hierarchical level and will hit.

RE: Defensive players
If you saw gary trent kill us on the inside the paint against minesotta, then you know what our problem is, we can't even keep people outside the paint, and that's just not gonna cut it. Didn't trent shoot perfectly from the field? he was like 7-7 at one point.

RE:Defensive players
Bradley would have made that 1-7 instead of 7-7

RE: Defensive players
Good point. But he isn't healthy, and when we don't have Bradley we don't have anyone that can make it even 6-7.

Bradley doesn't affect the shooting of power players that much. Guards driving to the basket, yes. Power players, no.

RE:Defensive players
Bradley would have been body slammed by Trent...I'm still waiting for us to see him get tomahawk dunked on by Earl Boykins next time we play the Nuggets. He IS NOT the answer...
But, CD, you did hit the proverbial nail on the head - we could NOT get a stop when we needed one against LAC...we need to turn up the intensity on D...where did that banner go from last season (referring to dunks and layup scored by Sac in the 01 playoffs?)

RE:Defensive players
Oh I think bradley might have affected the 6'4 trent just a little bit. ;^)

RE: Defensive players
It's about the zone. Ever since we started playing it, we've gone downhill.

RE: Defensive players
Executing in the 4th Quarter is the MAJOR thing for this team

We used to play very well the zone, maybe the best in the NBA. It is not the zone itself -regardless of the weaknesses that every defense has-, it is that we don't dominate anymore the zone.

Besides the blowouts that ocassionally the Mavs produced, playing hard the end of the third and almost all the fourth quarter, was one of the main aspects of the Mavs last season. Now we should scrutinize what is wrong with this as well.
