View from the Old No. 7 club at the AAC
I went to the game vERY early yesterday (5:30) to make sure I got one of the super-duper dirk nowitzki marionettes. However...what to do. So we decided to go and have dinner at the Old No. 7 club at the arena. For folks who haven't been there, there is a bar area upstairs and downstairs. The windows of the place open up to behind the seats so if you were there after/before a game you would be able to see players coming/leaving the game. (I think).
Anyway... They also have a buffet before the game that's really nice but pretty pricey ($25.00). However when sitting there you can see the players right below you practicing stuff before the game. So there was everyone down there walking through some plays.
Nellie at about halfcourt, donnie to his right on the sideline and del on his left at the other sideline. A whole bunch of coaches sitting alongside the practice court. Everyone was in some sort of getup. Dirk with baggy sweats, jamison/nash with mavs pullovers. Everyone else just ragged.
Najera was on the sideline as was TAW. They ran thorough a play (at about 1/10th speed) with nellie barking out stuff and telling them to go over/under around, set picks etc. No one took a shot during it.
Then they all broke up and some stragglers came out to shoot around some more. Stevie, Brad Davis, TAW, Najera, Shawn.
Pretty cool. If you are wanting to spend a couple of bucks and see the team pretty close.. Joe bob says check-it-out.

Was Toine out there, too?
Or was he busy "Flipping a coin" to see which type of player he was going to be tonight?

This was SUPPOSED to be a picture of Toine....But I guess even the Forum itself got sick of seeing him...

I'm sorry to pick on you MT, but do you ever post on anything that doesn't have to mention Antoine? You are beginning to remind me of another member of this board that was in love with a sub-par QB.
and dude... Thanks for the info. What time does it open? Is it a set amount of time before each game?

No wonder Fortson(and Nellie for that matter) still hasn't lost his weight yet... they put a damn buffet right next to the practice court! lol

There is nothing wrong with criticizing a team if your points are valid. But most of the armchair coaches on this board talk pseudo-basketball-ese and make results oriented comments as if they actually have an understanding of the game at the pro level. Most of the comments are based on disappointment from unrealistic expectations or the most ludicrous notion that you sitting in your barc-o-lounger knows more about how to win basketball games than Nelson. Just not gonna happen, boysan.-TwoDeep3

LOL!! The buffet was ABOVE the players. You are given the opportunity to look straight down on big shawn.
The arena opens up 2 hours before each game. We got there right at 5:30 and walked right in. They DO reccomend reservations, but I don't think so to tell you the truth. BUT if you got reservations the day before you could have your meal RIGHT next to the window and look down on someone and you know.. .open your mouth full of food.
Yes 'toine was there. If you were there mighty you could hold up a sign showing your undying love for him!! [img]i/expressions/brokenheart.gif[/img]

WHO'S IN THE HOUSE TONIGHT!?
I would like to point out that tonight you might need a reservation. There will be considerably more people in to see LA than there were to see NJ (not to mention it's a later game, and the doors don't open until 6pm).
Dude, I loved your thoughts on the Old No.7 - It's cool you had such an awesome experience! [img]i/expressions/heart.gif[/img] I've never been in there when the players were on their practice court. That must've felt pretty awesome.

After the game you can also have a beer and watch the players who didn't play shoot free throws.

It's usually open for 2 hours after the game ends.
I didn't know they went onto the practice court after!
I remember Even used to ride the stationary bike after games. What was that all about? (You could see him in the background when other players were being interviewed in the weight room.)
EDIT: You could see him on television

I'm not sure if it happens after every game Smiles, but I have seen it a few times. The last game I went to Delk shot for about an hour after the game.
