Rangers trade Mike Lamb to Yankees for Pitching Prospect
Baseball America is reporting that Texas has traded Mike Lamb, who had been designated for assignment, to the Yankees for Class A righthander Jose Garcia. Lamb will go right into the mix to start at third base for New York, which this winter has lost Aaron Boone to a knee injury and Drew Henson to the pursuit of a career in the NFL.
Garcia, age 22, is pretty interesting, having gone 9-8, 2.64 in 21 starts for Low A Battle Creek last year and 1-0, 1.74 in four starts for High A Tampa. In 157 combined innings, he allowed only 124 hits and 37 walks while fanning 104.
Sounds like a very good result for both Texas and Lamb. More in the next Newberg Report.
