Dallas @ Atlanta: Gameday Thread
This is usually a trap game for the Mavericks and the Hawks have played well at home with wins against the T-Pups and Lakers. But hopefully they can keep the focus going into the All-Star. I'm predicting a Mav's win but it will be close.
Dallas - 92
Atlanta - 88

RE:Dallas @ Atlanta: Gameday Thread
We should win this one easily. Of course that doesn't mean that we will. But if we're serious about getting a top 3 slot this is a game where we must take care of business.

RE:Dallas @ Atlanta: Gameday Thread
The Mavs need to explode on these guys early and not lose focus and they will look for a way to lose...much like Orlando did yesterday against LA. Rebound...get out to shooters(they only have 3...and only 2 are really good)...hit shots!

RE: Dallas @ Atlanta: Gameday Thread
This game scares me. We're coming off a hard fought win, It's a Monday night in Atlanta so they'll be lucky to draw 5,000 people and the Hawks have been playing well lately (relatively speaking). The Wolves and the Spurs have been ambushed in Phillips and the Rockets had to rally from 15 down this weekend. Combine all that with the fact that Rahiem and Terry can get hot and this has the makings of a trap game. Hope we don’t come out too flat.

Quote:
Upside down: Atlanta has it all wrong, which isn't unusual for a team that ranks near the bottom of the East. The Hawks are 12-18 against teams with a winning record and 5-17 against teams below .500. "We have to mature to the point where we play at one level," Shareef Abdur-Rahim said.
First impression: Forget the adage about how games are decided in the fourth quarter. Atlanta is 2-21 when trailing after the first quarter.

Dallas News Article
We better start off faster than we have been against the hawks or we could be in trouble. They play well against good teams as the above quote illustrates. Could be a let down game for Dirk after another 40 pt. game.

RE:Dallas @ Atlanta: Gameday Thread
My hope is Finley will find his pace again for this game, which will be very important if Dirk doesn't perform as well as he did Saturday (and who can blame him). We really need Finley hot from the field. Now, let's hope Walker does well and we might just come up with a strong performance. Any info on Jamison, is he still having trouble?

RE: Dallas @ Atlanta: Gameday Thread
Nothing to worry on this game. Some good defense on Abdur-Rahim and Jackson, to avoid overconfidence, and that's it.
Besides, they play worse in home.

This one may be ugly. Both teams will likely display bad shooting, bad defense, lack of focus, but ... in the end ...
Mavs 102, Hawks 94.

RE:Dallas @ Atlanta: Gameday Thread
Its either gonna be a close game....ending such as the Sonics, or the Mavs play well and win by a good margin. I'm a little nervous about the Mavs not staying focused and letting this one slip in the end.

I hope a Mavs win. Atlanta has played quite well at home, but Dallas also usually plays good games against the Hawks.

What about Jamison? Is he healthy?

RE: Dallas @ Atlanta: Gameday Thread
Dirk (35+) and Nash (25+) carry us to victory again.
Fin and Walker combine for 5-23 and nearly cost us the game.
Jamison will be another non-factor because he refuses to sit. No need to break his consectutive games played record because of bum ankle.
Bradley and Williams bring the 'D' that leaves the Atlanta guys heads spinning.
Howard has a near triple-double with 14pts-10rbs-8stls

Finley on the bench and about 2 minutes of action and the Mavs tie it up.

RE: Dallas @ Atlanta: Gameday Thread
looks like Ape was right, Rahim has had his shot blocked by Howard, Bradley, and FORTSON, but he is killing us.
It may seem like Atlanta is doing really well, but Dallas is doing really bad. They are fouling way too much, especially when someone makes the shot, and they still haven't got it in their heads that Stephen Jackson is a pretty darn good player.

I agree. I don't think Atlanta can keep up with its hot shooting....I mean c'mon! They've got to start missing shots in a row SOMETIME.
Look for the Mavs to take the lead in the 3rd and pull away.....

This is some terrible officiating. Rahim is getting every single call, while Dallas gets nothing.

Without Walker's rebounding we would be down by 10.
I don't think anyone else has grabbed one in the last 9 minutes except for Walker.
Some nice shots by Michael too.
