Default Dal/Port/NY - What do you think?

From today's ESPN Insider:

"The Raptors and the Mavericks have shown the most interest in Davis, and if the Blazers can get back a contract that expires after next season and a prospect, they'll pull the trigger. Toronto has plenty of expiring contracts, but they're also discussing Christian Laettner."

Now this probably is not a great deal at least from Dallas' perspective...but what do you think about this?

Dallas trades Antoine Walker and Tony Delk

Dallas receives Dale Davis, Shandon Anderson, and Frank Williams

Portland trades Dale Davis

Portland receives Kurt Thomas and Tony Delk

New York trades Kurt Thomas, Shandon Anderson, and Frank Williams

New York receives Antoine Walker

Why Dallas does it? To be honest...is Davis really the answer? He certainly helps but he's not as good as Dampier. Anderson is a nice role player coming off the bench...his forte is perimeter defense. Williams is for the future...decent young backup PG.

Why Portland does it? They get another expiring contract THIS YEAR in Thomas...since most likely he'll opt out. Delk isnt the young prospect they desire...unless Dallas throws in Marquis Daniels...but that may be asking too much.

Why New York does it? Isaiah Thomas' fondness of Walker.

I expect to get ripped for this trade...so fire away

Davis would be nice, but he's pretty old and doesn't have too much left in the tank. Anderson and Williams are spares. We can and should get a lot more for Walker if we trade him.

Nope, doesn't get the piece needed to "win it all now" or later.
I'd stand pat.

Rasheed isn't more of a center then jamison, walker, fortson or Dirk.
As for the trade no.

-- Agreed...we have to address the 5. But not with that idea...No, never and HELL NO. Not in this season, next season or on some alternate planet...

--The acquisition of Scottie "Beam me up" Williams was the sign that we're going to stand pat for the rest of the year...that's how I see that...which means that Dampier is gone from our grasp...and Z's not on the market (and I have a lot of misgivings about him)

So, if it was me, I go and try and get TAG for the MLE and trade our biggest expiring contract....for a 5.

JAYC ...."Rasheed isn't more of a center then jamison, walker, fortson or Dirk. "

I disagree with that wholeheartedly. Sheed is way taller than all but Dirk. Sheed can and will play strong post defense, and has a post-up game that none of the others do. 'Sheed can play outstanding D on any inside man. Thus he is WAYYYYYYYYYYY closer to being a C than those Mavs.

Re trading for DDavis ... he isnt worth a major player anymore (he turns 35 next month), and his contract is fairly big.

Isiah doesn't have a fondness for Walker.

Anyone remember last years All Star game?
If he wants Walker it is because he knows Larry Bird has some interest in Walker.
Not for this trade deadline but in the future.

I really don't like this trade at all.

Dale Davis is on his last legs. I don't think he has anything left.
Shandon Anderson is nothing more than Tariq.
Frank Williams would interest me some, but I think Tony Delk is probably better. But I'm not as down of T.Delk as most.

EXACTLY. Strange how no one hear remembers how Walker played only 5 minutes TOTAL in the Allstar game with Isaiah's excuse being that he looked tired and wanted to rest him.....
