"The Jan. 16 Orange County Register reports that forwards Elton Brand and Obinna Ekezie “became involved in a verbal altercation that turned into a pushing, shoving and swinging melee” at the team’s hotel in Minneapolis when guard-forward Corey Maggette got involved. The Jan. 15 ruckus “occurred in an elevator and was broken up quickly by teammates.” However, a hotel security employee “was accidentally struck in the face when he attempted to help break up the scuffle,” and Clippers Director of Player Development Jerry DeGregorio “suffered a bruised hand when he was slammed against an elevator wall.” The root of the incident stemmed from a private conversation between Ekezie and Brand that began at the hotel before the morning shootaround, the Register reported. That night, the Timberwolves toppled the Clippers 97-83. Brand told reporters the incident "is behind us." "
