Default Walker Benching a Smokescreen?

This is purely speculation, but often the Nelsons say one thing and mean the other. Could the Walker benching news be a way for the Mavs to lift the stock of Finley and Jamison a bit above where it is now. What do you think?

I don't see the connection. Those player's are vets and every GM in the league knows what they can and can't do.

Just for all the conspiracy theorists:

The Mavs are getting closer every single day to having five maximum salary players. I can't even imagine Cuban wanting to pay that. At the same time, you can't just trade them all away and expect to compete. So, the Big Three are virtually untouchable. Next are the two Twans. One of them has said he wants to stay a Mav - even though he is the lightning rod for criticism. The other has said that he wants to start and have a bigger role next season. The one who wants to stay has a relatively friendly contract, while the one who wants more of a role has a contract that lasts much longer. On top of everything else, the one with the long contract may have more trade value anyway.

It's weird, but I almost feel like we are being prepared for the return of the Walker next season. I could easily envision a scenario where Walker is the guy that returns to Dallas next season due to a variety of reasons.

Default RE:Walker Benching a Smokescreen?

You have to admit that Walk did everything this year that we asked him to do. Shoot fewer 3's, Drop the Shake, get more assists (tripple doubles), develop more of an inside game. The only thing was that the last 3/4ths of the year he couldn't finish anything around the basket. Hell in the first quarter of game 5 he was a man possessed. I agree with you I think Walk is part of the Mav's long term plan, especially with his contract and Jaimison is the one who will be leaving. I really believe were going to see a move to Cleveland for Illgaukas and Battie. Be nice if we could snatch their #10 pick too. I know a real gem can be found that low. Heck Dirk was taken with the 9th pick in 1998. I would not be surprised in the least if Walk is back with us next year. We just need to revitalize our team chemistry. Look at Detroit, they have great team chemistry, we need some of that....

Well, ddh, Walker is no stranger to being the proverbial 'lightning rod for criticism' which is why it plays no factor into his desire of returning.

And Return of the Walker? Sounds like a STAR WARS episode....

Walker : "Dirk....I..am your Father.

Dirk : "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! "

why cant we just get along????.....*oh* you dont want to.....well now i see....

on topic: I would rather someone blindfold Walker throw him into a trunk and drive him deep into the desert where he would have to live off of cactus root and rainwater.....you know a place where he could live out his days away from the mavericks...start a new civilization based on over dribbling and untimely turn overs…..*sigh* that would be nice.

he cannot stay a mav
