RE:Big Nellie on The Ticket with Norm
stack will be 6th man. if LA wants to make a reasonable offer then he might be traded.
mavs priority is to pare the roster down from 17 players to 15. trades will happen.
dirk wont be traded b/c shaq will want to play with good players and a team that can win. trade away dirk to get shaq and that won't happen.
norm asks about who the lakers want in return for shaq. nellie says young stars. norm replies he can only see 4 players who fit that mold: dirk, daniels, howard, and harris. daniels cant be traded. nellie cuts him off and tells him its pure radio speak.
little whistle really like pavel. believes pavel can be a player even though hes raw. the philosophy with pavel is since he's so young (19) they have time to work with him, and retain his rights for the next 15 yrs if they choose.

According to big nellie, everybody is staying. That and $.50 will get you a cup of coffee.

RE:Big Nellie on The Ticket with Norm
I really don't want Daniels or Howard to leave...especially not Daniels after the way he played at the end of the season. He seemed like he was on his way to becoming a superstar.

Good news...hopefully if we end up making a trade for Shaq we wont have to part ways with Pavel. This seems as though the mavericks are preparing to give up Nash. Harris was a great pick by the way...best pg in the draft imo

RE:Big Nellie on The Ticket with Norm
The discussions about Shaq were interesting. When Nellie was asked directly about that scenario, he made it sound as though a deal was impossible. But when Norm asked him about Stackhouse, Nellie said that they told him they had a place for him as sixth man, "unless the Shaq thing becomes a reality."
I thought Nellie kinda let that slip. I mean, if it's that impossible, why talk to your newly acquired guy about it?

two things: 1. nellie cannot be trusted and 2. where do you buy coffee?

How does Shaq want to play with good playerse when that team he would be traded to has to give up so much just to match his salary?

He was saying that if they trade Dirk then they probably won't win the title...even with Shaq.

RE:Big Nellie on The Ticket with Norm
I know it was early, but I think maybe the Big Whistle already had a bit to drink this morning.
Nellie also implied that Daniels coming back was a done deal. He said he was hanging out with them yesterday during the draft, and also (more or less) that they had promised him the starting job at shooting guard.

That's exactly what I've been saying...that's why Dirk's a mav for life.

Here is a quote from the official website regarding Pavel Podkolzine by Little Whistle.....
Quote:
He’s a young guy that we hope down the line will develop into a nice backup.

Who is he going to be backing up? Was this an oops as well?

Yeah...I thought that was odd when I first heard it.
Interestingly, Nellie also said in that interview that Shaq has five years left in him.

RE: Big Nellie on The Ticket with Norm
He will develop into a nice backup for whoever is starting at the center position for a couple of season until he gets a taste of NBA competition and is ready to come in and dominate I have a lot of faith that this kid is going to be an amazing player for us down the road.

RE:Big Nellie on The Ticket with Norm
Does that mean Fin comes off the bench? Or Fin is the SF again? Didn't they learn that he not comfortable there?

RE: Big Nellie on The Ticket with Norm
If the season started now I'd bet any amount of money that Finley would be the Mavs starting SF.

RE: Big Nellie on The Ticket with Norm
The quote about him being a backup... am I the only one that keeps thinking that is what Bradley is?
So my next thought is that either you already have one of those, or is Bradley being shopped?

RE:Big Nellie on The Ticket with Norm
I don't think that all of the comments that they make at this point are representative of how they completely feel. I believe that the term 'backup' was thrown out there to do two things:
1. reduce the pressure that the kid may put on himself to come in and make a quick impact
2. to reduce the pressure that the media would place on him to come in and be a stud.
