Harris is averaging 3steals a game in the RMR.
DJ Benga is very impressive. Averaging 3 blocks per game in the summer league.

While those numbers are impessive, I have always thought that blocks and steals are pretty inflated in summer league games becasue they are so sloppy. There are at least 2 or 3 times as many turnovers thasn real NBA games.

But i am still impressed with 5 blocks, but dont forget who he is blocking.

I don't think that's accurate. Teams average 15 - 20 TOs all the time in the NBA (Mavs lead the league at about 12 or 13 TOs/game; Rockets had a 30 TO game against us!). In the summer league, TOs seem nothing out of the ordinary.

Devin's got lightning quick reflexes and long arms which help him to get in those passing lanes. Given enough minutes, I wouldn't be too surprised if he's in the Top 10 in steals for his rookie year.

DJ is just a blocking machine. He's 7' tall, 7'6" wingspan, jumps about 3' high, is the fastest guy on the court, and got a black-belt in judo (helps in body balance & reflexes!). Again, given enough minutes, I wouldn't be too surprised if he's in the top 10 in blocks for his rookie year.

Last year's leader in blocks was theo ratliff, who only had 3.6. Two a game could be enough to crack the top ten, so if Benga's 3-5 in summer league translates to 1 a game in the big league, I'll be a very happy man.

Could Benga be our Ratliff everyone was pining over last year after his move to Portland? How can you not be excited about hi ummer League lines, regardless of the competition?

Even if we are not in "title contention" this year, it is looking as if we may have a couple of serious prospects for the Mavs 5 in the future. What are going to do if we can't gripe about not having a decent center?

Absolutely magnificent numbers by M'Benga. He is looking more and more as though he will be a very solid contributor this season.

As for Devin's game everyone has a bad one; it's all part of the learning curve. Lets see how he responds, for that is what's most important.

Nobody thought anything of Dalembert early either in Philly, but he rounded the year out averaging 2+bpg and I think 7-8reb.

That only happened because Phillie needed a center. He wouldn't have gotten PT had Coleman been healthy. We are in the same situation, really.

Anyone concerned that Harris is shooting under 40% in the summer league. What does that translate to.

I've seen lots of love for Devin, and I believe he has potential. At the same time he is shooting like crap.

When does Stefanson's contract become guaranteed for the 2004-05 season?

Remind me how Jason Kidd shoots... I'm not saying Devin will be JKidd, but to be the best PG in the league, you don't have to shoot the ball well.
