Kerilinko in Jazz' season opener
AK47 started off with the first plays of the game....first a block on the defensive end and then a rebound converted into a dunk on the offensive end...guy is a pleasure to watch

RE: Kerilinko in Jazz' season opener
That guy already has THREE blocks. I believe the lakers have THREE total FGA's. Simply a badass.

2 and a half minutes in and AK47 already has two blocks. He would have had three but one got turned over because the shot clock ran out

RE: Kerilinko in Jazz' season opener
AK's easily the most underrated player in the league. It's a crime that he didn't get stronger consideration for DPOY last year. Hopefully he'll get the accolades he deserves this season.

RE:Kerilinko in Jazz' season opener
I see him getting the MIP this season and being a major competitor for the DPOY

RE: Kerilinko in Jazz' season opener
He was too good last year for me to think he'll be in the running for MIP.

I'll second that...Sloan is going to have a great time coaching these guys. They are going to be GOOD.

RE:Kerilinko in Jazz' season opener
That was a pathetic showing by the Lakers.
It's early right now but neither the Lakers nor the Nuggets have what it takes to beat Phoenix and Utah to the playoffs.
On a side note, Kirilenko is absolutely uncomparable. Where did this guy come from? He's just intense and fun at the same time.

RE:Kerilinko in Jazz' season opener
I finally got to watch this guy, made me happy. The only jazz game i caught last year on the national broadcast he was injured. He is definately fun to watch, hope there is more jazz games on tv this season. Wish i could get league pass or nba tv =/, sometimes living in alaska sucks.
The Jazz seem to rarely force anything, they are always taking good shots....they are definately making the playoffs. With Harpring out of the starting lineup they are really deep with him backing up the 2 and 3.
Kirilenko is definately the key though...he was everywhere...its interesting to look at his rankings on 82games.com...in one ranking system he tied with tim duncan for 2nd....definately underrated guy, he does so much for that team.

The kid is just silly rediculous. He's the first player other than Ben Wallace that I've looked forward to watching play defense in a while.

RE:Kirilenko in Jazz' season opener
LOL he´s averaging 7 blocks per game right now.
On a side note. I looked up the boxscore for that last game against Denver and Melo went 3-20 in that game. I wonder if AK had anything to do with that. He´s definitly a great defensive player but a bit limited on offense. Something like the "Anti-Dirk".

Limited on offense... to 17-18 points a game?
I wish the Kings had a few more limited players like that.
(I agree that O is not his relative strength, but I sure wouldn't call it limited)

I agree. Although AK isnt necessarilly a great offensive threat, he is good and can definitely be dangerous on O if he gets the chance, but it's just amazing to see how much he changes the game when he enters the lineup on defense. He without a doubt is my favorite non-maverick.

That´s why I said "a bit limited", meaning not great but very solid. He´s a career 45% shooter despite not getting alot of calls in the offensive scheme and despite picking his shots. I doubt he´d even shoot 45% if he was to take say 17 instead of 9 shots per game.
All I wanted to say is that he´s a stellar defensive player and solid on offense. I might be a bit out of date though in my evaluation since the last Utah game I saw was sometime in the middle of last season (the german networks who cover the NBA both suck, we can´t get NBA TV or anything like it over here).
I really like AK´s game, he´s been one of my favourite non Mavs players for quite some time.

I think "Anti-Dirk" would be a pretty apt description of AK-47's game, especially since there are so few skilled low post players in the NBA to take advantage of Dirk's weakest defensive area (low post defense). But, Dirk has supreme offensive skills to AK-47s supreme defensive skills, and each is at least adequate on the other end of the floor, although at the moment I'd say AK-47 is a better offensive player than Dirk is a defensive player. I'd still take Dirk first on my team before I'd take AK-47 first, though.
