What a Night it Could Be
I've been an angry guy since Wednesday. I was mad at the execution down the stretch in Game Five. I was mad at Jason Terry for turning the ball over in the open court with a minute to go. I was extra mad at him for doing something so stupid that at the very least it could have cost the Mavs a chance to win that game, and that leaves the team a bit shorthanded tonight. I was mad at the fans for blaming the opponent for our own dumb mistake. I was mad at the owner for acting like a baby and making it worse than it had to be.
But it's two hours to gametime, and I'm not mad anymore. Because I've realized that lost in all the echoes of Game Five is the reality of what is at stake tonight. It is very possible that at the end of the night the Mavs will be clearly the best team left standing in these playoffs.
Tonight may well be our Super Bowl. Tonight may be the night that we finally exorcise our demons and put the Spurs behind us. Tonight may be when our first championship was won.
I was talking to an old buddy of mine about maybe going to the game tonight. He said I should go, as it could be the greatest moment in Mavericks history. He said how he remembered Game Four against the Lakers in '88. He said it was electric inside Reunion that Sunday afternoon.
I remember that day clearly. I remember where I was and who I watched the game with. And I remember how good it felt afterward, to know that we could play with the Lakers. I thought for sure we could win the championship that year.
Well, we didn't, and eighteen years have passed in the interim. Eighteen sometimes very long years. Tonight may be the night that puts all that to rest. It could be a very special night indeed.

Yes it could be a very special night, but unfortunatley right now the "what if we don't win" thoughts are coming to my mind. We gotta win this game, and shadow those doubts.

That is one HELL of a post.
I'm still bitter about most of the things you mentioned, especially the people making excuses for JET, but you're very right about the potential for tonight.
