21 points in the first half, damn....The Mavs are on Nat'l TV and Fin lights it up!!!

Now if we could just get Dirk on track....

How bout that play by Nash where he did the windsprint to save the ball from going out of bounds and then took the shot on the run and made it?

That Nash shot was incredible. I haven't seen the majority of the first half, but it looks like Fin is backing up his words.

This game was one of the best that I've seen Finley play. Looks like he's recovered from his injury, and is hitting his stride as an offensive threat. This is exactly how it should be--him shouldering a bit of the offensive load while Dirk is less than 100% with whatever the elbow thing is.

Overall, desite the win, this isn't the kind of game that inspires a lot of confidence for me. I don't buy the "Great teams find a way to win" argument at all. They looked very ragged in the first half, and could very easily have lost to an undermanned team. Seems like every game I get to watch, they struggle like this.

I know that it takes time and experience together for a team to develop the killer mentality and come out early and put away an inferior team. But I haven't seen a single Mavs game this year where they played things out that way. This may be an artefact of Nellie's TurboTempo style, in part--the other team will usually have an opportunity to get back into the game, especially if the Mavs hit a cold stretch.

Bottom line, they won. But the way they won suggests to me that they aren't going to be able to challenge a top-tier team decisively come playoff time. Not this year.

Finley has been fantastic since the trade. He has found his game and is shooting the ball as well as he ever has. Going to the basket for high % shots has helped, but that mentality is also give him more open looks on jumpers. Here are his stats since the trade.

PPg: 23.3
Rb: 5.9
At: 3.4

More importanlty look how efficient he has been
FG: .527
3 Pt: .449
FT: .827
TO: 1.45

Unbelievable shooting numbers for a SG.
