Germany vs. Nigeria
Those with access to this game, please post with updates. I know I'll be watching the live box score. I hope Germany comes out on top...immediately after the game I'll be rooting for the Aussies...

What's coming up? August 27: Eight-Finals (Germany vs Nigeria)
SAITAMA (FIBA World Championship) - Dirk Nowitzki has saved the German national team a number of times in his career. And the star forward may need another magical performance to knock off the highly-motivated and energetic Nigeria in the second round of the 2006 FIBA World Championship.
Nowitzki scored 47 points in Germany's triple over-time 108-103 victory against Angola to avoid a potential upset which would have resulted in Dirk Bauermann's men finishing third in the group standings and having to play unpredictable France in the last 16.
Nigeria will be looking for their second scalp from a big nation after being defending champions Serbia & Montenegro 82-75 in their group opener.
And head coach Sam Vincent knows his team will somehow have to deal Nowitzki.
"I think I've scouted him enough to know that he's an incredible player. He's a 7-footer who can shoot the ball, knock down threes and win some games something he's done that for the Dallas Mavericks all season long. So we know it's going to be tough to play him. But we'll come out and play him tough and see if we can double-team him and if not find other ways to contain him," he said.
"I think the key is going to be how the players around him respond. If we can contain Dirk and avoid him going off for a 40-point game, are the other guys going to pick up the scoring? And that's what our focus is going to be."
Bauermann meanwhile must receive a balanced performance from his team. Demond Greene has provided some excellent help from the outside, averaging 12.2 points a game. But one player who needs to step up is small forward Ademola Okulaja. The team's captain had been held to just under seven points per contest through the first four group games, but came up with 14 in the win over Angola.
Okulaja will face his native Nigeria for the first time in his life - Germany's first encounter with Nigeria in any FIBA competition. The 31-year-old was born in Nigeria and moved from Lagos to Berlin when he was three-years-old and considers the German capital his hometown.
"It's the first time I will play against Nigeria but it's nothing but friendship. My first goal is to win the game so I can't think about that," Okulaja said.
"Physically they're unbelievable. They're very strong under the basket, very athletic and now with the new coach it looks like they're very organised. So it's going to be a very hard game. And we'd better bring our best basketball."
"It's all a question of rhythm. We are where we want to be. And I'm sure it will be enough to give a great performance against Nigeria," Bauermann said. "I believe in this team and am sure that we will clear this next hurdle."
About Nigeria, Bauermann said: "Whoever beats the defending world champions and finishes ahead of them can't be that bad."
Nigeria come into the game after having played their best game of the tournament, a 95-72 victory against Lebanon. Going into that game - a must-win to reach the second round - the African nation had lost its three middle games since surprising Serbia & Montenegro.
Nigeria found their shooting touch from outside against the Lebanese, making 10 of 25 from beyond the arc.
And Ime Udoka has grown into his makeshift point guard role, setting up his team-mates with nine assists while his backcourt partner, Ebi Ere, is coming off his best scoring night of the tournament with 19 points against Lebanon.
Udoka, Nigeria's leading scorer with 15.6 points per game, said the team is not satisfied with just being in the Final 16.
"No we're definitely not happy to just be here and make the numbers. Our goal was to get to the second round, and we had a couple of bad games in the group stages. But now we're here, and we'll be ready and very energised to play Germany."
The winner will take on the winner between the United States and Australia.

Got the timing wrong, we're at halftime right now...Dirk having a decent game with his team up 48-43...already has 3 assists, no question he's improved in that department...all of his points have come from in the paint...
Dirk: 19 minutes, 4/7 2FGA, 0/1 3FGA, 2/4 FT, 10 pts, 3 ass, 4 boards, 1 PF.

Dirk's defense is improving...this is a really weird feeling, I don't feel like I'm watching the guy who took us to the Finals this past season...

It's Nigeria, not an NBA team, what do you expect?

78-71 with 2 mins to go for germany. we have some issues on the D-Rebound and Dirk is missing his 3pt shot, but game seems to be under control to some degree.

Grrrr. Germany is playing the shot clock down and then just handing over the ball. Reminds me on some Dallas games this year ...

Yay. Germany playing the shot clock down for 5 consecutive possessions, without attacking the basket AT ALL.

23, 9, and 5 for Dirk. Not bad. But in all seriousness, every single point came from the paint, he hasn't been shooting great from the line and not well from 3 at all throughout the tournament, his shot's off, no question.

USA vs. GER is really on it's way?
USA outscored Australia 32-6 in the second quarter en route to 113-73 day 9 victory.
