Motive for Murders?
28 days after a father murders his 2 adult sons, and still no motive made public. Curious.
Funeral today for students, father
SHEPHERDSTOWN -- A funeral service was to be this morning for all three victims of a double murder-suicide at Shepherd University. Police say Douglas W. Pennington, 49, of Scherr shot sons Logan P. Pennington, 26, and Benjamin M. Pennington, 24, Saturday afternoon in a campus parking lot, then killed himself.
Though autopsies have been completed, toxicology reports may take at least another week, so police don't know whether the father was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The family funeral is set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
A candlelight vigil was held Wednesday night at the Shepherd campus.
State Police would not discuss a possible motive Wednesday.
"I don't want to put out what we feel is a possible or probable motive and have it be incorrect,'' said Trooper K.W. Martin.
