AJ said last night that George is a game-time decision for Boston on Friday night. I imagine he'll be back by at least Atl on Sunday or NOK on Tuesday.
Buckner, likewise is a game-time decision on Friday.

These would be the perfect games to help bring Devean back up to game speed, but only if his knee is sufficiently healed. What we don't want to do is wait too long to get him back up to game speed. Otherwise we'll be bringing him along in games where we need him to be at or near full speed.

I didn't know that you need a good knee in order to pull pranks on people.

No need to rush him back. It's not like he is going to have a huge impact. I would wait until he is 100% then work him back in the lineup. We need healthy boddies going into the playoffs.

i kind of disagree with the no need to rush...mavs need to get george and buck on the court as soon as possible.
we're down to what, 16 regular season games....figure that mavs clinch the 1 seed with four to go, that means 12 regular season games where that really mean something.
throw out @Cle tonight, and now we're talking eleven somewhat meaningful regular season games.
i think 10 is the min number of games for a) george and buck to really get their game legs under them; and b) avery to regain the right feel for rotations.

I'm all for bringing them back ASAP, but we tried that with George once already and that backfired.

It's a balancing effort. We don't want to bring George back so soon that he reinjures himself and is set back in the time it takes for his return. But we don't want to be over cautious either, because George needs time to get back into game shape and for Avery to work out the playoff rotations. If this was January, we could let him take an extra week or two just to be on the safe side. We don't have that luxury of doing that now if we want George to be ready for the playoffs.
1st George needs to practice. If knee seems OK, then he needs a few game minutes. If Knees seems OK, then give him some more. Continue until either he's back in game shape or knee seems to regress. If knee regresses, then back off of minutes.

good question....checking stats...it looks like he missed 11 games last season, and all but 15 games the year before...
....not a stellar attendance record.

Just like last year, you err on the side of caution. The playoffs are a long, long time as well....16 wins at least.

he always gets these ticky tack injuries that don't look serious, and then wind up costing him 10+ games.
It's one of the reasons the lakers let him go.

Yeah, that's why the Lakers let him go and why we were able to get him so cheap.

Agreed. Give us your outcasts...
The whole team is composed of outcasts who rose out of obscurity. Go look at the entire lineup, realizing that Dirk was gained in a straight up trade for Tractor Trailer...
