WORST sequels
THere is already a thread devoted to sequels that were good, or at least adequate enough...
how about the TRUE STINKERS of sequels. THere are plenty of weak sequels, but sequels of actual GOOD movies that soiled the good name of the franchise by their very existence (and there are PLENTY to choose from)
I'll just start with one.
"Bad News Bears" == GREAT movie
sequels == festering pools of vomit

I know there is plent of fodder for this thread, so instead of quantity go for a few quality choices... ones that REALLY got your panties in a wad
<<and bonus points for vividly and graphically describing the depth of you hatred for them!>>

MIBII - horrible.
Everything after Empire Strikes back...a total embarassment to the Star Wars franchise.
The Wiz <<<----Hot! Sports! Opinion!

with a 2-4 ratio...one might need to question the "greatness" of that franchise.
I would disagree slightly with mary, I loved episodes four and five, loved less episode six...but still loved....liked episode one, hated two, and enjoyed three.

If we're measuring the biggest drop off from Original to Sequel Hell, I'd says Jaws 2 and Jaws 3D put in pretty strong nominations.

Ice Age 2... incoherent string of bits that weren't that funny
MIB 2. I know someone already said that, but I think it needs to be reiterated.

Biggest sequel disappointment in my fairly young life is easily Oceans 12.
Not that Oceans 11 was any great cinematic masterpiece, but it was a fun, well done movie. Oceans 12 was garbage.
Hannibal was pretty darn bad too..
The Whole Ten Yards was dreadful.

For sheer overratedness, I'd go with the second Pirates of the Carribean.
I don't care what anyone says, that movie sucked and I paid ten bucks to see it.
It certainly wasn't helped by the fact that the guy sitting next me was an extreme over-clapper.

Meet the Fockers - you can't follow up comedy gold with comedy aluminum
Dumb and Dumberer - now officially I have not seen this.... but from the reviews I know it's a piece of crap follow up to one of my all time favorite comedies.

No contest - Batman and Robin (the second of Schumacher's crapfest of Batman movies)
Batman Forever was terrible as well but Batman and Robin somehow managed to suck even more... (Arnie as Mr. Freeze? Rubber suits with nipples?... and oh god the neon lights!!!)
The comic world NEEDED Batman Begins.

I know this was the 2nd sequel, but Matrix Revolutions had to be the most dissapointing end to a series in the history of film. Matrix Reloaded was decent but unneccessary in itself.

In that same vein, I would like to submit "Pootie Tang 2".
There's no way it will live up to the first one and will no doubt leave a blemish on the entire Pootie Tang franchise.

Although I knew the name of the sequel before I left the theatre of Meet the Parents, I still found this movie funny and more importantly, re-watchable...not as much as the first but seeing Hoffman act like a over the top, tree hugging, flamboyant heterosexual...you just can't help but enjoy it

Blues Brothers 2000.
Lots of good music, but completely devoid of comedy. Also, I wanted to kill that stupid kid.

Rocky --> The Rocky Sequels.
There is a reason that the word "Rocky" is almost synonymous with the term "death by sequel." The second (maybe) was ok, but that series might be used in math class to illustrate "downward trend." Until the last one, each was worse than all the previous put together.

The National Lampoon Vacation sequels were pretty dissappointing, IMO.
