DAL-TOR-CHA Trade
Really bored and decided that the answer to our problems lies in a cheap obtainable playmaking point guard. Toronto has two so why not try and strike a deal with them?
Dallas trades: DJ Mbenga, Erick Dampier, Jason Terry
Charlotte trades: Brevin Knight, Sean May
Toronto trades: TJ Ford, Kris Humphries, Rasho Nesterovic
Dallas receives: TJ Ford, Sean May, Rasho Nesterovic
Charlotte receives: DJ Mbenga, Erick Dampier, Kris Humphries
Toronto receives: Jason Terry, Brevin Knight
This is a three way trade, not sure why Charlotte does it other than having a serious low post defender along with Okafor, replacing Wallace if he leaves (with a serious downgrade), and taking a chance on an athletic freak of nature center.
Toronto does it to replace Mo Pete if he splits with the upgrade of Jet (and we could take a look at Peterson with our MLE) while not losing much by getting back a terrific albeit much older pg in Knight. They lose their center but they will probably play even smaller ball next season since they are the Phoenix of the east with Bosh and Bargnani more than capable of playing center minutes.
We do it to get some (any!) offense from our center position sacrificing a defensive prescence, a playmaking point guard (which would be much cheaper than the suggested Kidd, Billups, etc. trades), and a nice young backup for Dirk. You could also switch Ford with Calderon, which ever Toronto wants to part with since they are both young and excellent playmakers.
Our new lineup:
Diop/Nesterovic
Dirk/May/Pops
Howard/Stack (resigned)
Peterson(?)/Buckner
Ford/Harris/Barea
Our point guard position would be young and versatile without needing to pickup an additional all-star with a huge contract. Any ideas on how to make this trade a bit more than fantasy from a Charlotte perspective? I honestly think having both Damp and Okafor defensively would be great for them, I just don't know if they would take his contract.
