Terry for Ricky Davis-Dal/Min/LAL
I think this trade makes sense for all the teams involved. Dallas gets size in the backcourt and cuts some salary, LA gets a good point guard to team with Kobe and Odom, and Minnesota gets a pick and an expiring contract and more room for the young guys in their rebuilding project. The salaries match according to RealGM.
Dallas:
Outgoing: Jason Terry (16.7/2.9/5.2)
Incoming: Ricky Davis (17.0/3.9/4.8)
LA Lakers:
Outgoing: Kwame Brown (8.4/6.0/1.4) (expiring contract)
2008 first round pick
Incoming: Jason Terry (16.7/2.9/5.2)
Mark Madsen (1.1/1.6/0.2)
Minnesota:
Outgoing: Ricky Davis (17.0/3.9/4.8)
Mark Madsen (1.1/1.6/0.2)
Incoming: Kwame Brown (8.4/6.0/1.4) (expiring contract)
2008 first round pick
The money we would save in salary could also potentially help a free agent signing for the MLE.

one step away from a legit team--sign a three point specialist and we are good to go.

Hey at least whenever the Warriors start bustin' caps out in the street after the game then we will have someone to shoot back.

Why is that exactly?
Minnesota gets an expiring contract in Kwame that is even larger than Davis' deal and a first rounder... sounds like the exact things they would look for right now.
Los Angeles gets Mad Dog back, who they (particularly PJ) have always liked, and a proven shooter to help Kobe with the ballhandling duties.
Dallas gets the best player out of the deal in Davis -- who just happens to have an expiring contract -- and salary relief from the Terry deal which was a little large for my taste. If they can sign an above-average backup point guard, we're all set for the next title push.

the difference in size is huge--both defensively and offensively
not to mention rebounding and passing (he averages the same number of assists as our PG and he doesn't have the ball in his hands that much with Foye and KG)

You cant just look at the number ..obviously Davis is bigger and I actually like the guy..plays hard...and has a tough attitude. But I think for the Mavs
Terry > Davis

I'm torn on this one.
I think Terry is the superior player overall, but I'm less certain that Terry is better than Davis for the Mavs. That's a really close call, I think. And when it's a really close call, you usually don't make the trade.
If we could get them to throw in one of their point guards for Buckner, I would be more inclined to go for it. I don't think the Mavs should roll with just Devin and Barea at the point.

Just having those 2 at pg is wht I mean too....Jet can still lead the team and score...if we give him up for Davis we get a pure sg tht can do many things..but not run the team and IMO Harris and JJb cant do it.
** I heard we were interested in Armstrong (rumor)

1. I don't give the lakers a player they need unless its Kobe for Harris/Howard/Diop or some such.
2. We know Minni will try to move him so offer them KVH/Benga/1st rounder or equivilent. I'm sure others will offer more, but hell if you really wanted you could try to get Juwan Howard/Rickey Davis for some of our young players and a draft pick. I would not give up terry/harris/howard/diop for him.
