I know it's early, but...
Is Bass an MIP contender? Last year, Kevin Martin (the rightful MIP, Monta was a sophomore, he was SUPPOSED to improve) had the amazing start, but this year, no one's really taken off like he did. The only two names that come to mind right away for me are Azibuike and Bass, along with Devin, but I doubt he's much of a candidate, seeing as he'd already made something of a name for himself. LaMarcus Aldridge is having a fantastic year as well, but again, he's a sophomore, the improvement's expected. Kaman's playing out of his mind, but we'll see how that holds whenever Brand gets back. Bass is definitely in the discussion.
This is the last thing we need to be worrying about after losing 4 of our last 5, but just a thought.

He could definitely be in the mix. We'll have to see if he can keep it up, and improve on defense.

oh come on, no one cares about defense for those type of awards, it's all about points.

It obviously favors points, but I dunno about all that. For a guy in Bass's position to win it, I think he'll have to show at least a little something on D in addition to nice scoring numbers.

He's not great one-on-one, but it's not like he's constantly abused. And he's a great shot blocker.

More than anything, I feel more time in the system will improve his D. He has the athletic tools to be a great defender. I don't see any reason why he won't be 2x the defensive force in April that he is now.
