Duncan leaves with knee injury...
SAN ANTONIO (AP) - San Antonio Spurs center Tim Duncan left the court Sunday in the second quarter of their game against the Portland Trail Blazers with an apparent knee injury.
Duncan got caught up with Portland's James Jones and fell to the floor near the Spurs' basket with 7:40 left in the half. He was clutching his knee and had to be helped off the floor by two of his teammates.
The Spurs were leading 34-28 at the time.
**Duncan bruised his right knee and sprained his right ankle in the first half and did not return to the game.

That's no good - right before a game against the Mavs. Hopefully it's not too serious so he'll be able to suit up on Wednesday to make it an even match-up.

Duncan bruised his right knee and sprained his right ankle in the first half and did not return to the game. The team said all of Duncan's ligaments appeared stable but that he would undergo an MRI exam on Monday.

Duncan's knee was injured in anticipation of the upcoming Mavs game... Word has it that the excessive knee-jerking in Dallas spread as far south as San Antonio and Duncan was simply a casualty of d-m.com's fanbase...
(um, this was just an elaborate bump...)

It didn't look good when it happened but he was putting some weight on it when he was helped off the floor. Sean Elliot went back to the locker room and when he returned with a report he didn't seem too concerned about it. He was guessing that he'd be out 2-3 days but I suspect he's out 2-3 games.
He's out for the Mavs game for sure. And a MRI will show whether or not he has torn ligaments.

The way we are playing do you think they are going to need him? Would sure suck if we lost to the Duncan-less Spurs (almost like losing to Jermaine-less Pacers... X10).

Not really. Atleast the Spurs have Ginobilli and Parker.
Seeing Duncan's injury on ESPN and knowing the type of coach Pop is, I wouldn't expect to see Duncan by the Mavs game. He'll probably miss 3-5 games at the minimum.

Yes and then they proceeded to destroy the blazers, something we were woefully unable to do whilst completely healthy.

According to the SA Express we should know the results of the MRI today. I hate to see anyone injured so I'm hoping he's not out for the season as I've seen some Mavs fans posted on various message boards.
If you listen to Pop, Duncan's out for a handful of games. It'll be interesting to see who steps up in his absence. Bonner and Elson have been up and down and Horry just returned against Portland.
Also of note is that Ginobli was injured as well though he didn't have to leave the game. He took a hard fall and stretched ligaments in his index finger of his shooting hand. It clearly bothered him and he said it was sore after the game.

Duncan needs to find a way to get un-injured for the Wednesday game, then he can go right back to being injured so he can finish up the healing process while the Spurs drop in the rankings.

I hate these situations... it puts Dallas in a lose/lose situation IMHO.
if we win, we lose because they didn't have their superstar playing
if we lose, well... we lose and can't take advantage of playing a team w/o their superstar
It happened with the Cowboys and Brett Farve this week as well.

That was before we started playing defense like we're mentally handicapped quadriplegic women midgets.
I promise you that SA will beat us without TD this week, if we keep playing defense like this.

Tim Duncan's MRI results came back Monday afternoon negative, which is positive for the Spurs and their franchise player.
There is no ligament damage in his right knee, which he injured while tangling with Portland's James Jones in Sunday afternoon's game.
The Spurs are officially listing Duncan with a sprained right ankle, though his right knee remains bruised and sore for the time being. He is being ruled out of Wednesday's game against Dallas, after which time his condition will be updated.
He could miss a game. He could miss two weeks. But either is much better than the alternative.

If we win with Duncan out here it means nothing in December. The only thing a win gives us is we get closer to the #1 spot in the Midwest which is a good thing. But beating the Spurs with Duncan out there doesn't mean anything right now. I'm sure the Spurs would love for us to get cocky and think we can beat them come May.
I wouldn't say the Cowboys and Favre thing is related. We ate him up. That's why he got hurt. Too much pressure on him. Its beyond me why Aaron Rodgers can come in there and do what he did against us but i'm just thinking it was a fluke.

Agreed. I'm just saying, no matter how we win--we will not get the credit we deserve
but I guess it doesn't really matter. You're right, it's on December..
that's one of the reasons why I wished our really big games are at the end of the year.. GS, Houston, SA, and now Boston, etc..

Right now who cares about credit, we need to pile up W's. As those seem to be difficult to come by especially on the road for us.

Yea I really hate how we get our big games out of the way at the beginning of the season. I think last year we actually played the Spurs twice towards the end of the season if i'm not mistaken. Going into the playoffs against weaker teams does not prepare us for the post season at all.

Losing to the Spurs is always more aggravating than losing to subpar teams. We could lose to the Bobcats in a blowout and I would still hate losing to the Spurs by 2 points more. Of course the blowout would be more of a cause for concern but for rivalry purposes I would much rather have a W over the champs.

Career high for Oberto tomorrow?
The Mavs have been absolutely giving it away in the paint lately.
If Devin Harris can match parker even a little, the mavs have a chance. But I don't like it. We're playing like a bunch of women right now.

It seems like we always give away a career high so Oberto would be a safe bet.

Once we win it will mean this.
We will be two games behind them instead of 4. F the media and the pundits.
Kick their butt.

Mavs have beat the Spurs 11 out of the last 15 times they've played, going back to the 05-06 regular season. In one of those games, Manu missed part of the second half with a back injury. In one of the games, Duncan was ejected in the 4th Q. Other those 2, the entire Spurs roster has been healthy for every single game. And yet the Mavs still have amassed that record against them.
Point being--the Spurs without Duncan, and possibly Manu, have about a 10% chance of winning tomorrow.

Except our unexplainable bad habit of losing games to bad teams (which the spurs almost are without duncan and manu)

Oberto is too easy to see. Normally, it's someone really unexpected that scores a career high on us.
Bonner's career high is 21.
i'm just saying...
