Ah, thank goodness. Order has been restored.
I am not a supersticious person, but the GDT should not be trifled with.

Kudos, U2. Nothing shows fear of the Warriors like deleting a premature GDT.
Well, except for benching all your players when you have a chance to knock them out of the playoffs, but that's for another forum...

? The Warriors held the tiebreaker to the Clippers who finished TWO games out.
The Mavs were never in the "Knock the Warriors out of the Playoff" race.
Funny math...

What was the math on that day? I'm talking about motives, not about outcomes.

I believe on that day, the Warriors held a one game lead (along with the tie-breaker).
We could've hung another loss on them, just like we can do tomorrow.
I would've kept quiet, but that's twice I've read that line this week - the other time from another poster.
We can stop pretending like the Mavs were ever in the position to issue the Warriors a final blow - its just untrue.
Whatever change in probability might've occured - it didn't come to fruition.
I can talk about outcomes, because its something that happened in the past, and I know what the outcome is.
Looking forward, its possible that the Mavs could knock the Warriors out of the playoffs tomorrow - or any other team they play.
At the end of the year, it'll be pretty clear whether or not the Mavs made a difference in a team's playoff eligibility.
I also don't think you should be game planning around an opportunity to knock somebody out of the playoffs - and in professional sports, its not something I see very often.
Wade Philips didn't care, Tony Dungy didn't care,Avery Johnson didn't care, and neither do I.
I also think you'd be making a much better point if you thought playing the starters would've better prepared the players (the ones in blue..the ones I root for).

We can talk about motives, though, right? Which is really all we are talking about in the first place.

I reckon...and what point do you suppose I make if it's not that the players would have been better prepared if they didnt have an exercise in taking their pants down?

If the Kings beat the Lakers on the last game of the season, the Lakers drop to 8th and the Warriors move up to 7th.
There were opportunities for the Warriors to move out of 8th either way. The Mavericks had little influence on the outcome, and little motivation to try.

We should make the GDT against Golden State a day early more often...
