At this point, all you can do is laugh
11/14/08
5 losses in a row
another heartbreaker loss to the Magic
0-4 at the AAC
I am passed the point of being pissed or upset; all you can do is laugh.

Stackhouse: 2 points in 19 minutes. If he's not shooting, why is he in the game?

I expected the loss so that doesn't really bother me too much...seeing this headline does:
"Harris' 30 in return gets Nets by Hawks."

While I was pretty positive we would be completely obliterated in the 4th after starting strong.. I wish we did not lose by a small margin. It is the small glimmer of hope when you know it's helpless, and having that taken away from you is what hurts the most.

Nets have Prince Vince and a young potential great center in Brook Lopez, Harris, and Yi. I am honestly surprised they aren't doing better.

I wish I was at this point. Sometimes it does seem like a cruel joke though.

The team was losing close games with Avery last year. It's the team. Blow it up.
I'm actually kinda excited to see what we can ship in here.

The Mavs are in two separate movies... which ever you prefer. They are in Groundhog Day where they relive the same damn thing over and over again.
They are also in the Butterfly Effect. When they change one thing it screws up something else, but the end result is it is still f'd up.

Mavs Loose again...100-102
ok..this loss could be....never mind..
we have 3 guys who shot 20 points or more..scoring is not a problem..we need to make stops in the 3rd and 4th quarter..we were a very good 3rd quarter team last 3-4 years..now this is where we start dropping off..if we play well in the 3rd quarter it fuels the fourth,...
Bottom line we need another point guard...i hope they can sign Marbury when he gets bought out..

I would say I'm excited about this year's draft, but BaD Radio did a segment today showing how pitiful their past eight seasons or so have been. Josh Howard is the only Maverick draftee that has had success, and even then some people want him out. The Mavs better get it right and pickup a franchise player that can post-the-hell-up.

Scoring is not a problem for 2.something quarters
Defense is a problem for 4 quarters
Everything else is a problem both inside and outside the games

It's healthy to laugh. I usually laugh when my teams are terrible. It's sure as hell a lot more fun than getting all sad about it.

Somehow they left Devin out of their draft analysis. He wasn't the best player available but he was and is a good player. Pavel on the other hand...
My main takeaway from that segment was the lack of first rounders over the past decade. We've traded most of them away.

It's hard to have a lot of success when you are at best picking at the end of the first round those eight years. In the NBA, a player picked at the end of the first round is kind of a crap-shoot. How many first rounders have we even had? I feel like we traded a few away as well.

The Mavericks are just redistributing their wealth in the 4th quarter, guys. Get used to this feeling in other areas of your life as well.
I think we might be the best 3 quarter team in the NBA. I really mean that.
Seriously, what can you do but laugh now? There's no sense in getting worked up over it any more.

Watching your team lose an important game when it's a really good team is 100x more heartbreaking than watching your team simply be a bad team. The 2006 Finals were hard; this is easy.

We've been right there in several games so far. But then come the killer turnovers, missed free-throws, stupid fouls... I've pretty much come to expect it.

It's funny you should mention that. I was just thinking about Miami. It seems like the hallmark of this team is constipation with the offense in the 4th quarter, and I can't think of a better place that all started than 2006, Game 3, Miami, 6 minutes to go, up 13 points. And then it just broke. And it's been broken ever since.

Yep. One of the turning points for this franchise (among other things, including Avery running the team into the ground) was when hall of famer Pat Riley showed the world how to stop the Mavs offense (i.e. Dirk's offense).
