Default Mavs will make history

Quote me or put my name on whatever tab you want; the Mavericks will be the first team to comeback from a 0-3 series to win.

If it doesn't happen.. I will run naked on the streets with a gucci thong!

I'm going to change the thread title to "Hey Nuggets Trolls, please come make fun of us in this thread".

Embarrassing.

How in the hell does one become a Laker fan and a Mavs fan? Just curious.

If we win Game 5, you're going to see a lot of people start believing.

I think tonight says a lot. I said from the start this wasn't going to be easy and it would take the full 7...it's obviously going to have to run that course.
Tonight was big because they could've laid down but they kept fighting. They've gotta come out hungry and aggressive early. Denver is going to try to put them out early in Game 5.

Well he has to wait till someone comes back down 0-3 if he has to wear a thong and run naked is that even possible??? Read his message carefully, never does he talk about this post season. The mavs are going to need the same kind of effort from Wright and Barea in game 5, Carmello not being perfect (he won't), Terry playing a little better defense and staying out of foul trouble, less turn overs, and Kidd and Bass playing well to win game 5.

He also said they've got nothing to lose. They do () but they've gotta come out aggressive and play like there is no tomorrow.

I think this is possible, but what bothers me are Josh's ankles. He looked pretty bummed earlier today.

Anyway, I love the enthusiasm. GO MAVS!!!

I still think the Nuggets are ticking time bomb ready to implode. If the Mavs can push the right button(s) the Nugs defensive effort, teamwork, and rebounding will decrease dramatically. One button is making the Nuggets play interior defense. Another is knocking them down when they get close to the rim, especially Nene. A third is for Dirk to drop another 40. Push these buttons and you temper the energy that makes Denver a dangerous team. If you can frustrate them at the same time then I think their emotions will drive them to be the individual street ballplayers that more accurately reflects their nature.

Chauncy Billups does alot to keep the fuse from lighting...let alone the bomb from exploding.

I would be shocked if the Nuggets completely unravled.

One thing I have learned from this series is how special a player Dirk is...he is above it all. He plays his arse off every game...and when game 3 unravled...while Cuban and Howard are throwing hissy fits, he calmly walks off the court back to the locker room as if he's above it all. Doesn't get much better than that.

Nugs fans put a lot of faith in Chauncy to keep things under control and I'm sure he does keep the lid on most situations. However, Billups was tied for 14th in technical fouls this past regular season (10), one behind KMart (tied for 9th) and 5 behind 'Melo. It's funny to think that this kind of volatility will be the sure fire remedy to skullthuggery.

A technical here are there isn't nearly as dangerous as the team unravling and getting away from what it does best...play tough minded defense....last night, the Nuggets got away with that.

As great as Dirk is....I am betting he'd trade his MVP for Chauncy's....in a heart beat.

I think technical fouls are an indicator of volatility and a necessary but not sufficient ingredient for implosion. Volatility + Adversity = Implosion. A poorly played game 5 might add enough adversity.

First off I don't think Denver is really THAT good

but the Mavs aren't THAT good either, so winning 3 in a row is hard.

Game 5 is gonna be really difficult. I'll give the Mavs a 5.4% chance of winning this series (.3*.6*.3)

Should be 2-2 FWIW!

Here's the historical probabilities from whowins.com:

When an NBA team trailing 3-1 must win three games in a road-home-road format, they are 26-80 in Game 5 (24.5%), and 2-104 in the series (1.9%).

Too bad the league won't let us replay those few seconds from game 3 so we could see a tied series...like it should be...

Except it's difficult to project how game 4 would have played out, had the series been 2-1 going into it.

It's fairly easy to project that the Mavs likely wouldn't have come out defeated and let the Nuggets work up a 14 point lead before snapping out of it on a Carmelo T.

We can play the if and but game all night long...but we'll never know...

Except to say...had the game been 2-1....game 4...as you immediately pointed out....would have been played differantly....who knows who would win.

I agree with GoNugs. Every event impacts another in life and basketball

For example, if Salvatore doesn't make a bad call in game 5 of 2006, Mavs are going for their 4th straight championship right now.

Worst case the Mavs would still be 3-1. That's what shitty officiating does, it puts a huge damper on the series.

Well, game 4 was the previous hardest game to win. If we win game 5, game 6 will be the hardest....and then game 7. Its only going to get harder and harder.

I disagree. I think game 6 and 7 will be a lot easier to win than game 5.

Hardest to "easiest"
5, 7, 6

I think the pressure gets to Denver if it goes to Game 6. We will have pressure to b/c we're trying to extend it, but if we have gotten to game 6 that means we played a pretty impressive game to end a great home streak in Denver. A win would create even more momentum and I think that with the home crowd will make it a easier ride in Game 6. Denver will have the safety net with Game 7 at home but the mystique will be faded for sure for Dallas going in to that arena.

Punches will be thrown, technicals are ordinary fouls, flagrants will rain.. They will throw everything on the court including their mom's. God help us in game 5..
